  • Why is PUNTA GORDA SPEEDWAY so successful?

Because of KEVIN WILLIAMS, his wife and the staff! Its not always big things that matter. Sometimes its the little thoughtful caring gestures... I was not able to attend last night but have talked to so many people and the talks are all the same... There was ANOTHER standing room only crowd last night.
The parking lot was jammed full and was so organized! Kevin even had some golf carts travel thru the lots and helped handicapped people to the gates!
Our children were treated to an Easter extravaganza.. thanks to PGS staff and the awesome drivers! there were so many baskets and prizes!!!
Kudos to JESSICA BRYANT for her extraordinary hard work with the Kids Club... she organized bike races and made it so much fun for our kids! Thank you Jess!
Ive said this so many times... we have the best rest room attendant in Florida!!! MELANIE keeps both restrooms spotless immaculate no matter how many people walk thru. Thank you Mel for your extremely hard work! Hope people are reaching in their pockets and showing you how much you are appreciated. No one likes trashy dirty restrooms!
TBARA brings their own scorers etc. and Linda said they were really nice and helpful. No jealousy... they all worked together and made it happen in the tower. She said they were great.
Now about Linda... when I got home at about midnight i ran to the puter to see what happened at PGS last night. All the results, pictures, and story were already online.!!!!! WONDERFUL job Linda, Robert, and Bobert. (lol)
Kevin...not perfect at all. has a temper that makes bears seem gentle.. and there's a reason. Kevin runs around that track all night looking for ways to make it run smoothe and to give the fans a show they will remember for $10.00!!!!!!!! TEN DOLLARS for hours of excitement. No extra charge for the sprints, lates or any other "special" event! where else can you go for a night out at $10.00??? Kevin is so dedicated to PGS. I heard there were some very big dignitaries there from the Homeless Coalition , the group last night was dedicated to!!!
Kevin can barely take a step without someone stopping him for one thing or another and he takes the time!!! He even listens to the constant complainers. yep.. in spite of how great things are there are people who resort to disrespectful nasty comments instead of talking like gentlemen during the week when things quiet down. So once in awhile he gets crude. Who wouldnt? The pressure at a race track cannot be underestimated! So instead of berating Kevin, take a look inside yourselves and think how you could handle a situation better. He WILL listen.
Our regular racers... hmmmmm well from what I see most of them are good friends and spend alot of time helping each other! they are loyal to the track and they work hard to entertain us. Visiting groups have told me that Kevin treats them so well... KUDOS to all of our RACERS! You are awesome!
Are things always perfect? HECK no!! Are things always perfect in your loving homes? NO WAY! but you never give up.
So i know this was lengthly but I see alot of complaints written on here and this is how it really is... Our staff treat all visitors with respect and the visiting groups are getting bigger and bigger!
THANK YOU KEVIN and staff for such a wonderful place to have fun on the weekend and thank you to all the staff for your hard work. Thank you Linda for getting out all the information!!! For all your promoting!
I think I am done! OH NO! one more thing...
    H~A~P~P~Y..E~A~S~T~E~R...!!!!

Being the only track in south Florida certainly helps.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Me thinks De Soto is only 50 miles north of PGS though

the track has been here for many years with several owners. outside of Leroy, the original builder, the track has never seen what they see now. it isnt just about location and it isnt just about the economy. Its about a past racer who loves the place and wants it to be a place families can have fun together without going broke.. please try to be more positive. thats what racing needs! ;-)

Staff, Management & Great Fans Like Yourself

Seems to me that Kevin has a good plan and sticks to it. The staff there sounds to be very dedicated to providing excellent service and great fans like yourself that donate items for the kids there all make for a great combination for a successful track. Everyone there should be very proud of their track and all the hard work they put out to make it so.

I didn't get to look around much because I was busy with my car. We were parked on the back straight, so I only made one brief trip to the front side. When I was there, the fans were lined up 10 deep at all the concession windows, so I was pretty happy to see that.

Although I had very little interaction with any of the track staff or officials, I have to believe they are doing something right. The track was neat and clean, and the crowd was amazing, and they saw a good show! All of the sprint people that I talked to were very pleased to see the track operating so successfully, and everyone I heard from is anxious to go back to PGS!

It was good seeing you Saturday Rex. You impress me with your Sprint adventure. You guys put on a fantastic show. It has been so long since I taped sprints that I had a little trouble keeping up with the action, but it was a hoot. See ya Bob....

Just curious, does anyone know why the 91 and 68 teams weren't at Punta Gorda? I was looking forward to seeing them.

Already looking forward to the 9-8-12 return to PGS of the TBARA. Hope Scotty Adema and Troy Decaire both have better luck that night.

It is my understanding that those teams are changing engines and preparing to go to Pensacola this week for the Must See Extreme sprint series race.

TBARA has made our race this week a double points event to keep rest of us in the area.

FRom what I heard, the #91 and the #68 were not at Punta Gorda because the cars are set-up and ready to run Mobile and Penniscola this weekend with the Must See Series. Troy Decaire is driving the #91 now, and was there. Mickey Kempkens is the driver of the #68 and was the winner Sat. in the Scott Adema back-up car. I hope that helps.

Congrats to Mickey!! and good luck to all of the TBARA guys that are running the Must See races.

What else is there to do down there? I believe it is a little more than 50 miles from PGS to DeSoto.

It is around 50 miles maybe a little further but not much. PGS is a great fan friendly track. The track itself makes for very exciting racing plus they let the racers be racers also.
