  • Old Florida dirt and pavement latemodels

Somewhere in Florida, not exactly sure.... Maybe one in New Smyrna? Think one is in Jacksonville.

Tiny Lund in the #55 at probably Speedway Park in Jax. The #81 is Johnny Jackson and I think the banked track is NSS. Bontrager in the #0.

      Nice pics, Terry...

I never knew your dad drove, too......that's just way cool. Seems like I learn something new everyday.

I just thought he was a hell of a tire man.

        Something new

Yes Matt, he won a lot of races early on, got hurt at East bay late 70's helping someone in the pits and never raced again. He raced dirt and pavement with the same car, had a low budget, notice the shaker grille at New Smyrna.

The Mustang on dirt is J.T. Peacock and the track looks like Barberville Speedway, now known as Volusia County. Nice photos, thankx for sharing.

Bowtie... are these your pictures? Would love to have access to these for my website www.floridaracinghistory.com...
I remember Johnny Jackson who ran mostly dirt up at Julian Klein's Jacksonville Speedway but he did show up at some of the early NSS races when the track was first paved in 1968... Eldon Yarbrough and Rod Eulenfeld would also come down from Jax... The 0jr is Bontrager and he was virtually the guy to beat at NSS when they ran those LM shows on Sunday nights... The #20 is Aden Erb in a six-cylinder Ford... Erb ran Golden Gate and was hot stuff there in the Early Model class and could easily keep up with the V-8s at NSS...
That is a great shot of Tiny Lund at Jacksonville Speedway... He ran there a lot during the winter months when there was no Cup racing going on...
                GREAT STUFF!!!

By the way, that last photo in your original post looks like Golden Gate Speedway, probably 1962-63....

The #11 Buick in the picture is Charles Wingate aka Charles M. and the #44 Perpall and Bethea Chevy was driven by Herb Spivey.
