  • New Job For Rusty Marcus!

Posted on the U.S. Legends website today...

To further strengthen the U.S. Legend Car International program at the Texas Motor Speedway and surrounding markets, Texas Motor Speedway and U.S. Legend Cars International announced a restructuring of the Lone Star Legends program. As part of this restructuring, U.S. Legend Cars International hired Rusty Marcus to oversee Lone Star Legends promotions, customer service and event management. Marcus, a long time short track racing promoter, has been a supporter of the U.S. Legend Cars International program since 1999. Marcus was the recipient of the prestigious Charlotte Motor Speedway Promoter of the Year award in 2005 for his outstanding short track racing promotions at the Orlando Speed World located in Orlando, Florida.

Sparky Grape will be partnering with Marcus at Lone Star Legends. Grape will oversee sales and distribution of cars and parts at Lone Star Legends. Grape has been involved in the U.S. Legend Cars International program since 1997 and his knowledge of racecars, engines, chassis setup, parts and chassis repairs is immense. Collectively, Marcus and Grape have more than 25 years experience with the U.S. Legend Cars International program.

“I firmly believe that both Rusty and Sparky will not only be an asset to U. S. Legend Cars International, but an extremely important piece of expanding the business, developing and cultivating relationships with the Texas racers and assisting in developing the program in neighboring states as both are so experienced with our cars and INEX sanctioned U.S. Legend Car racing”, said Don Hawk, vice president of business affairs for Speedway Motorsports, Inc.

Marcus and Grape will be based at the new Lone Star Legends facility located at the beautiful Texas Motor Speedway. This new facility opened in 2011 and will continue to serve as the home of Lone Star Legends. Lone Star Legends will promote race events, driving schools and test drive sessions on the ¼ mile oval track, Little Texas oval track and the road course located at the Texas Motor Speedway. In addition, Lone Star Legends will work with race tracks in markets surrounding the Texas Motor Speedway to further grow the racing program.

“Texas Motor Speedway runs more U.S. Legend Car International events than any speedway in the country,” said Eddie Gossage, President of Texas Motor Speedway. “We continue to work to find ways to support this important series. Whether it is a hobby or part of a driver’s climb up the ladder to the top forms of racing in this country, Legend and Bandolero racing are an important part of American motorsports. Drivers including Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, David Ragan and Joey Logano have spent time learning the sport in the cockpit of Legends cars and Bandolero cars.”

The next race event for Lone Star Legends is Saturday, April 14th, a companion event to the NASCAR Samsung Mobile 500 Weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway. Texas Motor Speedway and U.S. Legend Cars International invite all Legends and Bandolero drivers to come out to Texas Motor Speedway and meet the Lone Star Legends team, race their cars and watch the fantastic NASCAR racing at Texas Motor Speedway.

For more information regarding Lone Star Legends at the Texas Motor Speedway, please contact Rusty Marcus at (407) 557-6509 or Sparky Grape at (817) 832-4717. You can also reach the Lone Star Legends office at (817) 255-6000.
