  • green flag for Frasson

Had a great time tonight with Jerry "Frasson 118" as he made his first FASCAR start at Speedworld. After racing karts with him, I know Jerry would pick it up quickly, and he didn't disappoint.

Frasson drove my Strictly Stock in two practices and the heat. I had already promised the feature race to another friend earlier in the week, so even though he only had half a night, I knew Jerry liked it by the big ole' grin he had every time he pulled his helmet off!

He didn't put a mark on it, although he did have a breath taking moment where he nearly became as one with the concrete. Jerry finished 6'th in the heat race, ran with competitive cars and had a blast.

Actually, he climbed out at the right time. The throttle was hanging open in the feature, so Andy pulled it in pretty quickly.

      Dang.

Sorry I missed my good buddy's Strictly Stock debut last night but I swear I have a great excuse:

I have 10 high school girls in their pajamas running around here at my house with me.

Don't get too excited, you perverts.....it's our church's, youth group "Breakaway" dealio and we are one of the host houses. A bunch of kids from an Orlando area church come over for the weekend for some fun and fellowship with our kids. Beach tomorrow and concert tomorrow night.

It's gonna be a loooooong weekend.

Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Getting everything set for Jerry's next race!! I've managed to get legendary NASCAR Superstar Joe Frasson to be his spotter and I'm talking with Eddie Wood to see if he'll bring his Wood Brothers crew down from VA to pit the car!

Just pulled the results from SpeedNet Direct, actually spelled the names correctly, and will post here... A big 42 car field... still a long way to go, BUT at least the place is still open!

What a BLAST I had. I'm a lucky man to have a friend like Rex Hollinger. He gave me a chance to fulfill a dream I've had for 43 years since i saw my first race.

Rex, and Andy Sandall who was my driving coach, told me to drive the hell out of it, bring it home in one piece, and have fun. I added "don't finish last" to the list on my own. Having never done this before, I had no ideas on how to get around Speedworld in at least a "don't embarrass yourself" pace.

The first practice, I was basically alone on the track, and had nothing to judge myself off of. The second practice, I started off behind another car, and taught myself how to run down, and set up a car for a pass. I didn't want to be a fool and take us both out in practice, so I backed out each time.

For the heat race itself, naturally I started on the tail, and had a pretty cool view of the field ahead as things got a little crazy near the front. I did manage to pass a car under race conditions, avoided a couple of spins in front of me, gotten my doors blown off by a flying Shane Sutorus who I never saw coming. At first I thought I was being lapped, but actually he was coming from behind after I passed he and another car that had gotten locked up together.

So, for my first race.... I finished, didn't spin or crash, stayed out of trouble, passed cars, and did NOT finish last...!

All in all, it was a freaking rush to finally have that view at the race track. I've always said "the seat in the worst racecar, is better than the best seat in the grandstands". I've always envied the racers out there, and now I know firsthand what it feels like out there. I want MORE of that feeling.

A huge THANK YOU goes out to one hell of a friend in Rex Hollinger. He, along with Andy brought me Christmas in March.... and I'll never forget it. Best X-Mas EVER....!!!!

Sorry I missed your debut Jerry but I can see by your face, you had a great time. Too bad it was not next Friday because I am suppose to be there next Friday for the Bright House race to write it for my website. But so glad you had fun, your face reminds me of Alex's and the first time he raced. Hope to see you one of these days.
