My son and I were watching the race, and I pointed that out to him. That was pretty surprising, as you said that place used to be like Yankee Stadium to get a ticket.

And there use to have a different kinda racing too at that track.

This track was known for the action packed races, many caution flags, bump and pass coming out of 4 to checkered, pit lane tricks, etc. That is all gone.....so are the fans.

Now they have side by side racing with fewer cautions, a pit lane that is fairer than it was, and fewer wrecks that take out innocent bystanders. I guess this is just proof fans came to see the wrecks and not the racing. I heard Nascar is buying Crash-A-Rama to boost attendance. I've heard the comments but I preferred the side by side racing more than cars parading around under caution, like it use to be.

the race was one of the better ones lately but still nowhere as good as the 80's and 90's.remember when cars could actually bump and bang and not get aero messed up.what the hell is aero anyway i think that's what's messing up racing.

And I have heard that back in the crazy boom years, that there was an actual "waiting list"----to purchase and grab a seat at this venue.

Kind-of like Lambeau Field in GreenBay Wi, to watch the Packers play football.
The waiting list is years on end. And it still is that way.

I'll bet they're waiting, now, for walk-up ticket sales.

Just read on Jayski that Bruton's is going to put the track back the way it was in 2006! He said that they poled the fans and that is what they want. He also said that it would be done before the August night race this year.

Yep, I just heard from a reliable source the track is being torn up this week.

Ought to make it the only dirt track on the Sprint Cup circuit... Now that would fill the stands!
