  • One topic for tommorrow

I asked race tire manufacturers some questions.
What programs does blank participate in that gives back to racers and encourages brand loyalty?

Is blank tire open to competition and if not please give a rebuttal in favor of "Spec Tire" racing?

Why should racers choose blank tires in a open competition environment?

Thanks in Advance. These same questions have been sent to the other manufacturers.
Tommorow night we might have some answers other than what the guy taking money at the tire trailer is telling you.

Is Spec tire rules good for shorttrack racing?????

It's good for the track or Series... they are the ones "getting something back" from the manufaturers, in exchange for their "loyalty". As
For the racers, I've seen it work, and I've seen disasters. A tire that only lasts a week or two at most, is in no way helping the racer. I have seen a Spec Tire rule that does seem to work at (I believe it is) Unity Speedway in Maine. Only the first week of the season are 4 new Spec tires available.... after that they are only allowed 1 tire a week, or the option of skipping a week and buying 2. The tires last, especially the left sides, because they HAVE to.

So, it really comes down to this.... if the tires they mandate are good for that track and that division, then it works. If the rule is just designed to sell more tires (read this as extra track profits), then NO, it's a terrible idea.
