16 cars is not a good start to this Series... At least there were 16 good cars...

That's what happens when you have two 100 lap late model races on the same night,at tracks that are only an hour and a half from each other. It made both tracks have less than ideal car counts, 16 at Desoto, and 14 at pgs.....great idea!

With all due respect looking at the two list I do not see many cars at either track that ran at the other track at all last year, so saying the two races took away from the car count I am not sure is really correct sure it may have by 1 or 2 cars but if you look at last years results for pgs and fpr the FUPS series most the cars that were at PGS saturday never raced FUPS last year and most the cars that were at the FUPS race did not come to PGS last year. So is it ideal to have 2 races on one night no but if you look at it in depth I dont think that is it

id rather see 16 good cars race than 16 good ones and 8 junkers... makes for a better race for the fans...the economy sucks! thats whats giving us low car counts...we have mod-minis... i can only imagine what it cost to run a latemodel... 16 is better than 10...

I agree Jody. I always say a 15 -18 car field produces the best racing anyway. When you stick 24 or more cars on a track all you get is caution after caution more times than not. Also it did not hurt car count having both races on the same night because the cars that run PGS run PGS and nothing else and the cars that run the FUPS run the FUPS and don't run PGS. If anything it hurt the fans having to choose a race but from all reports it sounded like 2 pretty good races.

Boy i said that one time and Flipon is still quoting me ..

The quality of a race doesent have anything to do with car count..
Wasent there so i dont know how it went just saying.

Guess the "good old days" are finally gone now... I remember when 40 (or more) cars would show up for a big race and try to get a starting spot in a field of 24-36 depending on the race and size of the track... The feature field was the best of the best and the rest were already on the trailer counting their tow money, eating a hot dog and watching the big show...

                  Low car count

Here is my two cents worth.

You can spend $1,000 on all the costs to run a race, and unless you finish in the top 3 or 4, you will not get back the cost of the tires, let alone all the other costs. Desoto and Punta Gorda both used to pay $400 to start. Now it is like $100 or so. It didn't get any cheaper to race, but they cut the purse. Now, the people who do not have the money to throw away on a "No Win" situation just sit, and thus, only the rich are left, and you have 14 car fields. You need the people in the middle who race because they love it, not just the 16 year old who wants to be the next Kyle Busch, so daddy buys him as many cars as he needs to crash on his way to NASCAR. Bring up the start purse, and you will have more cars. They may not be the fastest, but some of the best races come from 2 guys fighting for tenth. You may be too busy watching the $60,000 car that a hamster could drive, but they are there having fun doing what they love.

WRE11 knocked it out of the park. Here is my template for success but the guys that are benefitting now will scream bloody murder.

1.Ride height rule gone! People are spending major $$$$ to cheat a antiquated ride height rule. This would lower cost significantly. Oh yeah and dont give me that crap about tearing up the racetrack either. Most cars bottoming out and sparking through the corners now.

                      2. Some late model series up north are mandating 8in. treaded tires. Do this and you dont have to have a engine rule run what ya brung. Thats what it is now anyways. Spec motor is a joke and promoters all say the crates are cheated up. Tires are the biggest expense and on the rubber their on now, the cars are way to stable.

3.ABC body rule is a couple of body manufacturers way of monopolizing the market. Open it up to any thing that will referee and template. most tech men are capable of using a measuring tape.

                      4. 2900lbs 57left opens it up to perimitters, limiteds and sportsmans and many other garage trophies collecting dust.

Well I'm so glad to see there are more people out here that can see the light. Tommy and Dave are exactly right about everything they said, but let me add one thing to there perfect plan. Every week a fan comes down to flag stand and rolls three dice (3) for the invert of the feature. Now lets see how we got all the cars out of the garages and on the track. (1) 2900 min. weight, (2) Grooved or slick rock hard tire which will cut tire cost way way down, no need in buying tires every week and let the guy with his 600 HP try to hook that power up, (3) Nice size invert, like 9 or 12 cars instead of fast cars starting in the front. Can you see, can you?? Every car , driver and owner has a chance to win, now you have the working guy, pulling his car out of the garage and to the track. How can we get a promoter to listen??

Get rid of ABC bodies. They cost a fortune, take forever to install, and if you ding 1 fender up, you aren't even competitive. Go back to allowing the wedge nose, slab sided cars that can be done with a sheet metal brake, a box of rivets, and some tin snips.

If they don't do something with the bodies, Showtime Speedway is gonna suck for LM's. They cars are too hooked up, the bodies to expensive to knock around a bit.... I predict nothing but follow the leader racing in the LM's there.

Be different while the sheet of paper is still clean.... allow the wedge bodied cars, a healthy invert, and watch for some full contact style racing we haven't seen in a while
