  • Speedweeks/World Series/Winter Nationals round up

Aside from tomorrows Danica 500, another February has come and gone. I love this time of the year, and soak up as much racing as I can. So how were things at the tracks you visited? Were the stands full? Were there enough cars? Good racing? Good times?

This year was very different for me. I raced 3 times in 7 nights, and spectated on two other Feb. nights. Year after year I am a sleep deprived fan who takes in 10-12 shows, but this year I happily took advantage of the chance to race, and of course the spectating took a big hit.

I didn't get around enough to know for myself, so I am anxious to hear from other fans and racers who had a good time. The complaints are easy, but if you have to complain why not add something that went well too?

I had an absolute blast driving the pavement sprint! We had two nights at New Smyrna and one at De Soto. Now I finally know why I got into racing: it was to do something like this class. Yep, I had lots of fun years in mini stocks and other classes, but this is how it should have always been. Maybe one day I'll be competitive at the front of the TBARA, but until then I am certainly enjoying the climb (except for last nights flat!)

Aside from racing 3 nights, I made one trip to BRP for the modifieds and thunder stocks, and a also saw a very good and well attended sprint show at Volusia.

    So what about you?

For me, Speedweeks started off on a bad note, as me & AB195 got to BRP for the USAC Sprints just as the rains came. Of all things I've seen, wingless 410's on dirt are not on the list. Really wanted to see this one.

The rest of the time was centered on NSS for their week. Went to practice night (15 minutes of it anyways), then caught Fri, Sunday, Tues, Thurs and of course my 20 Hours of NSS for Reunion day. It was the last one, but very well attended, and ended my week on an adrenaline high like you can't believe. Still smiling as I type this...!!!!!

Missed you there Rex, although I understand 10000%. There has been a handful of great friends who have supported this from the beginning, and I can NEVER Thank You enough......!

I got to say VCS seemed to have the best shows. We were there last Thurs for the sprints.Shear speed!Nice to see Tony Stewart and Kenny Wallace there as well as the Dillion clan. This past Thurs after the rain out was the best racing, hard crashes 4 fliped cars.110 cars in 2 classes on a fast track.
A lot of people standing room only and a quick run show. One thing strange I find not a lot of Florida fans attend shows!!Checking on other tracks seems like car counts were down and I didnt see a lot of coverage on the Florida talk boards!!JMO From a DIRT guy why does NSS pratice all DAY LONG w pratice and qulifying evry day seems like a lot usless cash wasted.Give them 1 session of pratice. And why so small car count on the nascar mods??Dirt brought 40 down from the N.East, cant seem to understand only 25 nascrap tour type mods.
