Mt.Clemens on Thursday, Spartan on Friday, Flat Rock on Saturday and Toledo on Sunday! Somebody here may know when that was the deal to spread them out back in the day!

Don, I don't believe Benny was referring only to the "super" series. I agree with him about having too many traveling series in Florida.
BTW, Ocala had a very successful show on a Sunday last year. February 13th to be exact. It does have pavement under the dirt. Sorry, I just couldn't let the chance to pick on you pass me by.

        Always starting something!!??

("I did not miss any post.
Yes Punta Gorda posted in Nov I think Desoto posted in Dec big deal.
It would seem between the track owners or managers of the two track posting it would have been fixedthe probloem so that you were not on top of each other. You both have two months or more to fix the poblem.
Just seem a big shame that two business owner dont want more car count in there pits for a race and a beeter show for there fans.. ")

My question is, why would Desoto schedule the Icebreaker on the same night as PGS, considering they DID have their schedule out a month before Desoto did? Let's be real and not pretend now, the owners of both tracks are not going to speak to eachother about their schedules or anything else for that matter and everyone on here knows that!! As long as I can remember the Icebreaker has always been ran on a Sunday, I know that for a fact because I would go to it every year!! The way I see it is, the dates are "First come first serve" and if one doesn't like it, then change their date, plain and simple! Another thing, in the past most racing seasons didn't start back until the weekend after the 500. So does that mean because Desoto has always had the IB the 1st week of March for years on sunday, that now because they decide they want it on saturday, noone else is supposed to schedule on that date? I really think there is way to much of the case of the Green Eyed Monster out there anymore! There are a few select out there that need to realize that PGS and Desoto owners beat to their own drum and neither are going to budge! Those few also need to stop making up anything to gripe about because they have their own personal grudges!

          Desoto/Punta Gorda

In response to all the questions concerning the 2 BIG SLM Shows this weekend on top of each other.
The series had a schedule together and was trying to include Punta Gorda for the 2012 season. Going down to the last possible day before going to press before the PRI Show, the two parties could not come to a deal. We are still working to have a FUPS race @ Punta Gorda, either later this season or in 2013.
Punta Gorda released their schedule on Tues. morning on Karnac, FUPS released their schedule at the PRI Show on Thurs. back in Nov. of the same week.
The track owners did not schedule to create conflict, the schedule for the series was put together by the series director and the track owners. The FUP Series will continue to work with all asphalt tracks in FL to build the series, and this includes Punta Gorda.
We wish all tracks great sucess in 2012, and to the fans support the track of your choice. They all have something special to offer on a Fri. or Sat. night.

for as long as i can rember the icebreaker ha been the first race of the season...
For 25 years the first race on the west coast was the was the first week in march.. Then the weekley stock car racing started on the 2nd week.
everyone stuck to this except NSS. they ran 52 weeks a yeay back then
I rember when there was a 100 laper on the first week at desoto and at Sunshine about 1983 what a mess that was..
We stayed home..the car count was bad at both races..the croud sucked also..both races were on the radio. 2 stations in the aera..
after that all the tracks would work out the dates for the supers..
Hope the new guys will fig out that there is no winning if they dont.
Yes i spent most of 25 years trying to as they say control Florida racing..
Trying to keep the dates and the rules right..
It didnt work and still isent working..
Good luck to the officals that are trying to keep all this in check.
