    From Speed51:

Ted Christopher just told Speed51.com that he will be going home after tonight's DQ. Christopher also said that he saw no reason to pull apart his motor with so many nights left in the week.

WARNING! OPINION FOLLOWS! If you can't read my opinion without going to pieces, then quit reading at this point.

Even though I've always been a TC fan, that story just doesn't add up to me. Do you mean to tell me that they towed down from yankee land without a spare motor? I don't think so. Did they already damage an engine this week? How would I know, my point is that these guys got told to tear down by their own series director and refused to do so. So instead doing engine work, buying another or borrowing one, they are pulling out and driving north.

Sorry, I am not sympathetic. This decision doesn't reflect well on them, and will be difficult to explain away. I don't want to hear anything like, "well, the series doesn't pay enough to tear down." They knew what it paid before they left and chose to come down anyway.

Its too bad. That team has been a loyal supporter of the World Series for so many years, and TC is always one of the main attractions, no matter what he drives.

From what i read in an interview with him - he wasn't going to come this year and was sort of talked into it. Sounds like it was just the straw that broke the back. Shame really. I think next yrs changes are just in the nick of time.

Did someone put the money up or was it the tech officials discretion? Who wants to tear into a motor during speedweeks when you are already sleep deprived and worn out when there are races remaining? Money or not we both know what it takes to keep cars going. We can all call TC a crybaby but I don't blame him. I can't imagine the tech official not having a scope to see whats inside, unless he is wanting to weigh something.

It was put up by 2 teams that pitched in on it... one was Ryan Preece, the other Ive heard was Hossfeld.

As much as I hate to lose a car because of this (plus the respect for car owner Joe Brady who has been doing this stuff for about 40 years now), this incident may go a long way towards re-building the Modified fields. The common perception of the Mods at New Smyrna is:
        A) Cheating is rampant in the Mods because of lack of (knowledgable) Tech
        B) Before the week is over, Ted Christopher WILL crash you, and the track will do NOTHING to stop him.

Between these 2 factors, no matter how true or outrageous, it does put a question mark in a lot of peoples heads whether it's worth it to head to Florida.

You shoulda seen the 00 crew when I walked into their trailer to hand out Reunion fliers.... wearing a Ryan Preece T-shirt. They wanted to lynch me. Threw my fliers on the floor and basically told me to get out while I could. I tried to explain that I had NO side in this, just trying to promote an event.

Sorry Joe and Linda Brady... you got some real assholes hanging with your crew. Good ridance to TC and your thug crew members.

Not worth the money is not an excuse for not tearing down. If making money was a worry then they would never show -up to start with. You don't drive this far, Spend money on tires, fuel, food and everything else and then not tear down because its not worth it. Well its not worth it if you are not legal.

Sorry but I have never been a TC fan, ever. I have watched him over the years wreck a number of cars and I am sure he would wreck his own mother if he had to to get to that stripe. But pulling out and leaving is kindof babyish to me and if you have nothing to hide, it should be no problem. His crew already put the car back together according to him so I am sure they could get a little ole motor together also if necessary.

But all in all, this does not look good on TC or his crew and makes you wonder now was he legal all along??

The rumor mill churns that there is another car on the way down for TC. We shall see what happens. Teddy has talent to drive around people but more often than not he seems to want to drive through people. He doesn't seem to care about it either. Maybe that is why he has never gone further than where he is.

Ted Chrisropher has been a prima dona since he started racing the SK mods up at Stafford. Always thought he was better than everyone else. Too bad he wasn't more like his brother. So go ahead and cry, stomp your feet and work your way back up north, believe it or not, the show will go on without the almighty TC.
