Heat race by luck of the draw to set the field for the main. If any kind of invert is used add a perk like points or a couple bucks for heat win so they will go for it and race hard. I know i used to when i started 10th for a 6 lap heat race (of 4) sometimes to get me a shot at the front for the main. Some nights i raced just as hard or harder in the heat..............only had 6 laps.......
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Heat races by pill drawing and invert the feature (Top 8,10 or 12 etc) by taking the points from the last four weeks racing.

Benny The Mule, I like running for money in heat races. If not money, oil, beer or something that's worth running hard like you used too!

Start heats and feature off of pointswith a invert, have a slow heat and a fast heat paying points and $25-20-15-10. Split field for heat races, start feature off of points but lucky fan gets to roll the three dice, inverting from 3 to 18 for the feature. New guy or miss two weeks you start scratch. Now you are talking some racing. Think about it the fans get to see some passing and a lot of guys have a chance to win or finish top 5 or 10 which never had a chance when you redraw and fast guy starts front row. I sure hope one day somebody listens, seen this work and pack the stands and the pits...

YES ! I agree. This would definitely be a way to create a RACE.

Find the TBARA handicapping system and use it. It works for a 3-heat system, but it will take a while before the Sportsman would need 3 heats. The fastest guys seem to start around 10th - 16th, and it's a hell of a show watching them come through the pack.

PLEASE don't go with Time Trials. It's a lousy policy that has been used, without success, for far too long. Every class in Florida should shitcan that whole idea.

Take your points average. Divide it up into 1 2 or 3 heat races depending on how many cars you have. Lowest point ave guys in the first heat and so on from there. Put up points and money for heats. For feature just bump all the heats together from your original line-up. The lowest point ave guy on pole to the highest point average guy who will start next to last of racers carrying point average. next to him should be the last races feature winner and behind them are guys who have not raced with the series up to that point. If you do it this there will at least 3 guys in the first heat who will have a chance of feeling good about themselves that would have never had that chance any other way.

Now will the guys go for this. Not likely because for some reason wheel holders of today don't think it is fair to them to have to start mid pack or worse. Might scratch the paint if they are not careful. And after all its not about putting on a show for the fans its about the car staying pretty and not having to earn anything.

When I used to raced up north, we do first come, each serve get your position, another words when you came in 10th driver from the front pit gate when you sign-in, you`ll be starting 5th in the 1st heat race, if other driver is a 14th sign-in, they`ll be in 2nd row inside in the 3rd heat. if more then 18 cars.

In the feature, who ever win in each heat, set the pole, if the driver, finish 3rd in 1st heat, will start 9th, finish 6th in 1st heat, will start 16th in feature. finish 6th in 2nd heat, will start 17th in feature. And so on.

I like this way, heat and feature.....

It don't matter were you start, it only matters where you finish. And one more thing, they tell you how fast you were at the payout window!
