But the track is in St. Pete. Tampa is on the other side of the bridge. Also is it just for the 5 years they said or did they get a extension? Also what about the 60 day (I think) to vacate anytime during the contract?
Yes but Pinellas county is bordered by Tampa Bay..Just as Tampa is.. Referring More to the area than anything.. The whole area is considered the Tampa Bay area.. Tampa bay refers to the body of water.. Tampa is a city..
I think 2 tracks that close to each other with the same name 'Tampa' would be confusing.
We have 2 tracks in Lake City and when I tell people I race at Lake City, they ask "the dirt or asphalt track"..... Just sayin'
If you can't use Sunshine then I think Sunrise or Suncoast would be a good choice.

RIP Jack Smith and Kim Brown. Many thanks for all you have done for our sport.
Jimmy M has it down - great suggestions. I love the lower number of divisions which is lost in this day and age of short track racing. You don't need 8 divisions to put on a good show!
One other suggestion would be one or two autograph on track sessions per year. Make it something to sell and look forward to, not a everyweek hand out candy and photos deal like tracks do around here. That and long intermissions just chase off fans.
One last one goes with the above, don't make the program a marathon, under 3 hours would be ideal!
I hope Sunshine or whatever they name it will be a success!
You're right Rich... I was thinking of East Bay of course. The fact that it is close by in Tampa I guess.
Tampa would be a good choice then......

One thing is for certain, with a lease of over $15,000.00 per month you can bet they will need a sponsor with their name on it. Predicting.........................

Jack Smith worked so hard putting together the Sunshine Reunion... and soon after his death the track is reborn with a new sunshine.. how about Sunrise Raceway for the new rising sun... im also with KARNAC... i dont think you can reuse a name that was a corporation. Jack had alot of help with the reunion too... Bill Green, Rick Anges, Wayne Jefferson, Bill the cameraman & myself (a little) ;-) dont want to shortchange anyone cuz that was ALOT of work and by far the most successful reunion i know of. ;-) if i left anyone out forgive me. i am old and forgetful... the place was packed to capacity including the parking lot.... was a blast!
