Understand after reading the Sunshine Facebook that no one has turned any bids in to the state. That the state is prepared for them to bring the bids in person and be there when they open the bids. Oh how we trust our government, be it local, state or national. Number of things have me puzzled on how the state does things. 1st thing, this being from Sunshine Facebook, that if the highest bid is a dollar higher, that bid maybe turned down. The state is concerned that if a bid wins by a dollar that people may think that it was rigged. 2nd thing, state does no background or credit check on who wins the bid. So, the person or group that wins the bid has only enough money for a few months, they will lose the track, which will put the track opening off. Just hours away from knowing these answers.

I would think the state is smart enough to make sure who ever wins the bid, has real deep pockets. I also would asume they will be paid up front for at least a year or two, so if the track does not open, they at least have most of the income they are wanting from it......

The only state that I think would do that would be North Dakota. They are smart enought to have a surplus. They even have a state bank that the public can use and borrow money from. No, Florida does not require a deposit like you are speaking of. 2 more hours and the chosen, I mean highest, no that not true either, some bidder will be given the lease.

When I won the lease from Martin County for the property that Martin Co. Kartway was on the Commissioner told me that he couldn't tell me how much the bids were but he did told me that nobody had placed a bid yet and bids had to be in the ballot box in the lobby by 3:00 that day and it was already 2:30.
I knew what the previous owner were paying for the lease and I had a completive bid of 5 digits a year. So I stool by the ballot box for the next half hour and NOBODY put in a bid. So I changes my offer to from 5 digits to $10 a year. Yah, that's right, ten dollor. And I won the bid. Maybe that is what somebody is trying to do over there.
FYI. I tried to pay my whole 10 year lease with one check for a hundred bucks but they wouldn't accept it. I had to give them a check every year for ten bucks. Go figure.
