  • St. Pete Grand Prix Photos

Went over on Saturday. What an amazing facility to take in some sports car racing. My hat is off to the promoters and event organizers. I'll be going back for a long time to come.

I got a killer spot at Turn 10 to take some photos.

If you want to see the rest, they're here:

Nice shots. You're lucky you had no fence, or pole, etc. to contend with.

Why is that? I think the ALMS cars are far better looking.

                Alms

exotic ALMS cars better than ugly daytona prototypes = ugly COT in Nascar. they all look alike.ugly.

                  Jack,
Those are some sweet pic. Is the Audi the quietest racecar you ever heard? You can stand 5 feet from it while it is on stands in the pits at full revs and all you can hear is the turbo. You should have come look us up in the pits. My son was with Team ViCi. We were 1 of only 2 cars in the race on Kumo's so we had the Kumo Girls hanging around all weekend. Did you get any shots of them? If you did PLEASE share them!!!!

Nice pictures. ALMS and Grand American are just two totally different series. ALMS= Speed,Beauty, and cutting edge Factory backed teams. Grand am= Close ultra competitive Privateer teams in cost capped cars with 40 + cars per race. I like watching both series. I beleive in 2010 or 2011 the FIA will be dumping the current LMP 1 cars for a closed cockpit class. Then maybe it will be like the old IMSA GTP and FIA group C days.

Do you mean the IMSA and Group-C cars that got so expensive that there were basically no cars left? Although road-racing isn't my favorite, I'd hate to see history repeat itself and wind up pricing itself out of business again.

Be careful what you wish for!

You have a good point there about the rising costs of GTP and group C making them extinct. That is why grandamerican has a good concept. turnkey DaytonaPrototype 300 K-700K depending on which chassis and motor package you go with. The GTS vettes and Aston martins in ALMS cost way more than that. But it sure was fun watching the 30 prototypes screaming into turn 1 at Daytona

The ALMS cars are very high tech and cool, but the competition in Grand Am Daytona Prototype is superior, plus I love they way they beat on each like they're in cup cars. The DP's are stout pieces.
