  • Busch to Phoenix Racing

I am pretty much computer illiterate so I am not able to put up the link but Kurt Busch has signed on with James Finch to drive the #51 Cup Ride.

IF anyone can put Kurt in his place it will be James Finch!

James Finch already said something to the effect that if he did hire him, he wouldn't pay him money then listen to that horses__t!

I thought he said the same thing. However, his tone sounds different today. Here's the copy from Jayski.com:
Kurt Busch gets ride for 2012: Kurt Busch will drive the #51 Chevy for Phoenix Racing in 2012. Busch put the handshake deal together with team owner James Finch on Wednesday night. "I went to the shop, and on the Christmas tree was a sign that read, 'All we want from Santa is a winning driver,' " Finch said. "We will be at the Daytona test next month and start with the Shootout." The decision comes just weeks after Busch left [#22 Dodge] Penske Racing in a mutual parting. Upon his departure, Busch said he "wanted racing to be fun again." Phoenix Racing runs Hendrick Motorsports cars and engines. Said Finch: "I told Kurt, 'I won't fire you, and you won't quit. We'll do whatever it takes roll in the mud if we have to to win. I've worked construction all my life just so I could race and have a good time. I've worked with iron workers, I worked with construction workers, so working with a driver is not going to be a problem. As I said earlier, all we want to do is win". Landon Cassill most recently piloted the #51 for Finch last season. Finch finished 30th in owner points.(FoxSports)(12-22-2011)

With Busch now in the 51, and Allmendinger in the 22, could that leave room for David Reutimann in the 43??? That would be cool pairing with Petty....

They are two of the most historic families in racing, going back 3 generations each into the 40's. Hard to find more respected families than this pairing could be..... what a good story line, if it comes to be.

I think the only obstacle for that to happen is that Petty lost the sponsor for the 43 car......that is why Allmendinger left

              Place Your bets----------

On the Big Roulette Wheel-------around and around she goes.

Everyone has a shot at a spot at where it/they'll land.

This is the Silly Season Era, as usual, and nobody knows for sure.

My bet is on the House/Double 00/----45/1 odds he'll land with Petty.

I read yesterday that Ragan was going to RPM and Reutimann started looking for a real job. Sad to say but I think David's cup career is over.

I think David's biggest enemy now is his age.

Reutimann doesn't need to look for a real job. He is building his own Dirt Late Models and shipping them off to the west coast, he can't build them fast enough as it is now!

Who cares!! Nascar racing blows and will never ever be what it was. Boring is what it is now. Like an NBA game turn it on the last 5 minutes and that's all you need.

It will never happen, but ditch some of the 1.5 mile borefests and run on dirt up at Springfield or Duquion, throw in some new short track venues or old North Wilksboro and you might have somthing. Of course all about $$$ so it would never take!

                      Merry Xmas!

I fully agree with you about his age. His TV persona is equal to or better than his fellow traitor. He has won with inferior equipment and manpower. Its just like formula one bring a sponsor and you get a ride. Considering the Reutimann's began their quest to be a great racing family shortly after the end of WWll it is only fitting that we now have one in the record books on one of the most competitive(though boring) circuits in the sport. While I don't like the way things have gone I must take the time to be thankful for what has been. They have earned it.

EG, I agree. David and his family from what I have seen and heard are good people, and definitely true racers. My personal experience was just having raced against him a few times in the old National Late Model Sportsman series on dirt back in the early 90's. In fact, I still have an old Saint Augustine Record newspaper clipping of the pace lap of one of the races at St. Augustine Speedway. David's double-zero is on the pole and I am a couple rows behind him. Sadly, in racing today, especially at the top level, no matter how good you are, you have to bring money, either via a sponsor who likes you, or with deep pockets.

I agree, the 1.5 mile tracks suck! I only watch NASCRAP when they're racing Daytona, Talladega, Martinsville, Bristol and maybe Dover
