  • NASCAR's Turn 5:AJ Allmendindinger gets a chance of a LIFE TIME WITH THE #22 DODGE!

Allmendinger to drive Penske No. 22 Dodge for '12
    By Team Release
MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Penske Racing has named .AJ. Allmendinger as the driver of the team's No. 22 Dodge for the 2012 Sprint Cup Series.

Allmendinger finished 15th in the Cup standings driving the No. 43 for RPM in 2011. "I am really excited about the opportunity to join Penske Racing and drive the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Dodge in 2012," Allmendinger said. "I have always admired Roger Penske and the way his teams compete and win in every series where they race. It is a privilege for me to represent such iconic and respected brands as Shell and Pennzoil, AAA and Dodge. I am honored to join Penske Racing and I will do my very best to continue to build on the standard of excellence established across the organization."

The No. 22 Dodge team produced two wins, three poles and 16 top-10 finishes in 2011 as it earned a spot in the Chase and finished 11th in the series standings. Allmendinger will be paired with crew chief Todd Gordon, who led the Penske Racing No. 22 Nationwide Series team to six victories last season and was named last week as the new chief of the Shell-Pennzoil Dodge.

"A.J. is a very talented and motivated driver and we believe he will be a terrific fit with our team," Roger Penske said. "He has shown great promise and consistent results on the track over the last few seasons and working with Todd and the Shell-Pennzoil Dodge team will allow him to take the next step and compete for race wins and a spot in the Chase in 2012."

Allmendinger honed his skills in the open-wheel racing ranks. After winning the Barber Dodge Pro Series title in 2002 and the Toyota Atlantic Championship in 2003, he earned Rookie of the Year honors in the Champ Car World Series in 2004. He posted five wins and finished third in the 2005 Champ Car World Series before making the switch to NASCAR. He first competed in the Cup Series in 2007 and he's earned 26 top-10 finishes in less than five Cup Series seasons. Allmendinger has finished inside the top 20 in points in each of the past two seasons.

Now the question is what happens to David Ragan, Brian Vickers, David Reutimann, and Kurt Busch???? They are all GREAT Drives!

    What's your 2 cents worth?????

      Rogers made strange chooses before.

Remember what everyone said when Roger signed Brad Keselowski. Brad was realy a nobody that won by Flipping FLIPPER. The new Teams may become the Dynamic DODGE BOYS.

Well its plain to see that car owners don't use talent as a guage of a driver anymore.

Can we do away at least with the RED lettering? And let's try to concentrate on local short track racing?

That is correct, this board is for local Fl. racing. Why doesn't that idiot go to some NASCAR page where he can cut and paste his un-original thoughts?

                Sorry to offend.

I use the "NASCAR's Turn 5:" as a way to let the non-nascar-want-a-bee's know that the post they are about to view will have content of NASCAR. To me I have been in Motorsports since 1971 and Short Track racing in Florida since 1995 when Teddy Kempgens an I got together and got the first America Race Truck. Since then I have follow the top ring of sport being NASCAR (in my view). The FASTRUCK Series has had a great number of Racers that I believe it's the way to go. That NASCAR is the Best of the Best and if not themselves then their Kids. Sorry if the red letters bug you, but that's my way of expression. I get excited about our sport and LOVE to express it!!!!!!!! As far as the local Short Track racers. I believe they to follow every move of the BIG BOY's of are sport. And most DREAM of being one of the so called "non talented drivers that Penke had to choose from". Please if you are offended just don't click on the post. But for the rest of you let's go RACING. And keep having FUN!!!!!

To me with the skill the AJ has shown this last year his the one for the #22. I also believe in this equipment he will be a major factor in the Chase!!!!

That's my thoughts what's your 2 CENTS worth??????

                GOooo NASCAR GOoooo!!!!!!

There 14 days left till the THUNDER Test, and 58 days left till the DAYTONA 500!!!!!

With Kurt going to ther #51 who's on the side of his car.

Knowing with all the hipped that is wheeled around Kurt Busch. The Sponsor will be sure to get plenty of exposure (heck will it bring a BIG Sponsor to the #51). Anyone heard who it might be????:

I heard that Marcos Ambrose maybe put into the famous #43 . Sure hope the two David's aren't left out in the cold (I hope for a Christmas Miracle). And does that leave only the #9 open open for a driver if a Sponsor could be found?

                      Is there any other openings?????

Oh yeah did Brain Vickers end of the year action effect his future?

There 13 days left till the THUNDER Test, and 57 days left till the DAYTONA 500!!!!!

                      GOoooo NASCAR GOoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not so much that I don't like his posts (well it's actually NASCAR I don't care for so much anymore), but the BIG RED lettering was way over the top (hard on the eyes). He is rather entertaining at points!
