Jimmy Bryan on his way to winning a USAC "Big Car" race at Williams Grove, PA in 1956... Bryan went on to win the 1958 Indy 500 but was killed in a crash shortly thereafter... Had this guy lived, I believe his name would be right up there with the Foyts, Andrettis, Unsers, Mears etc. as one of the best ever...

This is from the 1986 World 600 at Charlotte... Richard Petty crashed his car in practice and busted himself up pretty good... NASCAR had a rule back then, believe it or not, that you could not run a back-up car... So, good guy D. K. Ulrich loaned Richard his car for the race but Richard blew up the engine just a few laps in...

If you’re referring to any of the older stuff I’ve posted here most of them will no longer show and in fact will appear as the dreadful ‘red-X’ because the FTP site I was using at the time has now closed. However these on this thread should be showing up OK.
Is anybody else having any trouble seeing my pics?
If anybody wants to see any of my older pics that are not showing any more just LMK & I’ll repost them, no problem.

In fact, my better-half, Linda used to cart James’s son Teddy to the BMX races along with my son J.C. back when they were 7 – 8 years old while I was bangin fenders out at Sunshine & Golden Gate.
In fact, James was our engine man on the Four LM for a period of time.
Here we are at Sunshine Speedway after a feature win in 1974. Left to right: Starter Bob Phillips, yours truly, my dad in the yellow jump-suit and James Nelson all the way to the right.

Thanks for the kudos Joe. I do appreciate short track history especially here in Florida where I was involved with it even though it was only for a short period of time.
Same-ol’, same ol’ man, when you’re young and doing the things you love like racin you think it’s gonna be forever and sometimes you don’t fully appreciate what you have at the time.
Then when you get on down the road and start lookin back it begins to sink in.
I too like your posts & photos so right back at-cha with a high-five for that my friend.

Sunshine Speedway – Early 60’s. Frank Riddle celebrating in Victory Circle with family & crew.
Left to right: Preston Mattair, Frank’s wife Magaret, Frank, daughter Sharon, sons Billy & Jimmy with Charlie Young on the right.
Many thanks to Jimmy Riddle, John Bear Berg & Chad Freeman for their help in identifying the folks in this photo and some of those that follow.
Sunshine Speedway – Early 60’s. Frank Riddle taking the victory lap in his #10 Modified Sportsman.
How do like that windshield? Looks more like the top half of the windshield off of a Harley full-dresser.
Sunshine Speedway – Early 60’s. Frank Riddle hard into the front straightaway wall in the #15 Arrow Plumbing Winged Modified as the fans gather at the fence to see the carnage.
Sunshine Speedway – Early 60’s. Frank Riddle celebrating another victory in Harry Crouse’s Circle-15 Winged Sportsman.
These cars were a little primitive wouldn’t you say?
