    Bobby,
I can't take the time to respond in detail but let me say I agree with a lot of what you say. The tracks should work together and form a "coalition", if you will. Similar rules for all, combine for buying power for concessions, etc. I just don't believe that having series races on the regular race night will help the regular race night car counts. I think it may actually hurt it. That's JMO. I would strongly suggest going with special weeknight shows that are truly special for traveling series.
    That's what my idea is.

Touring Series coming into your local track almost always guarantees a poor car count in the regular support classes. Why? The tracks get greedy at the back gate, generally raising the cost by $10.

What do the regulars get for their extra $10? Absolutely nothing.

The track figures that "somebody's got to pay for this extra purse", while the teams in the other divisions say "I'm not paying $35 to get in just because Sprint cars are there". Fans get something extra for thier money, but the rest of the pit area didn't.

Tracks need to figure a fair way to allow most of their regulars to get in for the normal price, yet still cover the costs of the special event of the night. Maybe allow, for the 2 prior weeks, pit pass buyers can prepay the normal amount instead of the increased amount. If it didn't cost them more than usual to support this show, maybe you'd have more support class racers show up that night. That in turn will help pay for the extra purse.

I have never been charged a higher pit pass fee for a special show. It was always(usually) a higher price at the front gate and an entrance fee for the competitors in the show.
Some tracks have a pit pass fee and then charge you to park...anywhere you can. Too late to find a slab, tough, you still pay to park.
If I ever go to a track that wants me to pay more for anothers show and not add to my payout too........I'm gone...

I like many of the ideas posted, but I can tell you this:

#1 up until 2007 we all were making a whole hell of alot more money to spend! period! Fans And/or racers. This I feel is the number one reason for ALL the issues. I don't get to do anything I really want anymore do to the economy.

#2 racers & racetracks = whores & whore house (I think I read this here before.) We need each other or we don't make it.

these are my insights. I will stop here on my soap box. The status of stockcar racing as a whole in our country makes me ill.

Contact me here. If & When Key people wake up & are willing to negotiate for the common good of this sport & not just their wallet! I will give my last breathe to help promote it.

Bobby, A lot of this has been discussed many times before and I think people get frustrated just repeating the same things. It will take one of a couple of things to make this happen.
The track owners/promoters will need to all put their egos aside and agree to work together in all divisions for the common good. I just don't see that happening.
Or, one particular individual with the skills to organize and unite needs to step up and take charge. That would have to be a special person with diplomatic skills, foresight, contacts, integrity, energy, and funding. A person like Glen Donnelly who united the dirt tracks in the northeast many years ago.

76, I don't know what tracks you have been to that don't increase the pit side gate? I've been to tracks that have increased the gate on a Strickly Stock race with extra laps such as maybe a 50 lapper. These guy's race just for trophys only in most cases. And when they do pay something, it's usually like the top 4-5 spots only and that is usually a sponsor of the race that pays the purse. Only track that I can remember not raising the pit gate was Sunshine. They didn't care if it was just a regular nite, a class special race, exibition or GOD was putting on a special appearence, it was only 15 dollars (pit side). I saw a track promoter one time pocket $500 one nite many years ago. His office person told him that so and so wanted to put $500 in the pures of a class one nite and spread it through the top 5. He said "Do you have it already?" The employee said Yes and showed it to the Promoter who promptly took it and put it in his pocket. There was no increase in payout that nite in said class.
