Inverness Grand Prix
Street Kart Racing, Nov 19th
It's full throttle ahead for the Inaugural Inverness Grand Prix, Saturday, November 19th. Taking the lead is Tri-City Kart Club, with Affordable Kart Club of Inverness and the Ice Cream Doctor not far behind in pulling together all the activities & sponsors for the event.
Several streets near the historic courthouse downtown will be unaccessible by vehicle during the Grand Prix practice & races. Detours are being worked out. According to regional kart racing afficionados, street racing opportunities are few, so fans and drivers are really "reved up" about the course.
It's an all day event, with 6 classes of racing. Practice runs for each class will begin at 9am, with races beginning shortly after noon. Admission for spectators is free, unless you wish to purchase a Pit Pass for $10. Proceeds benefit Citrus Abuse Shelter Association (CASA), Relay for Life and Friends of Citrus County Animal Services (FOCCAS).
Entertainment is also planned, with the one & only 2011 Cooter Idol, Mark Smythe, providing live music as well as local band, the Soggy Bottom Bakeshop Boys. Custom choppers will on display and the Nature Coast Mustang Club will be sharing some classic Mustangs for viewing. It's an event you can't afford to miss and it's FREE!
Bring the family and a chair for each, to enjoy a fun day of racing and music, at the Inverness Grand Prix.
