    Another thing that is not mentioned in the article is that this was the result of an ongoing fued between two teams.The driver that took the rap in this case was sent out there in one of the rival teams old back up cars to carry out the dirty work for someone else.The track should have acted on this and tried to intervene before it got to this point.The guy does not deserve prison time but this was a premeditated act not a racing incident that happened in the heat of the moment.

      I do remember reading about this and that guy could have easily killed a couple of people in the pits.

      not one part of this incident occurred in the pits. they almost had a riot in the pits, but that was a crowd control failure.

      ++ THIS ++.

      this ( the on-track incident ) is what happens when the track refuses to do it's job and police the idiots that think it's their god given right to smash into anybody they want anytime they feel like it ( like they might get passed that is ).

      i suspect that this went to court because the Bly's expect that the track was going to sit on it's ass and not do anything about Bell and very little about Blake.

      i'm not happy with their decision to sue. i'd much rather they just went somewhere else. but i can understand the frustration.

        Nobody sued anybody,this was a criminal case.The charges were filed by the Claremont police that are hired to be there every week.The state decided to go forward with the charges based on the police report.

          I do know here in Florida , if a police officer witnesses a criminal offense[in his judgement], he must intervene. It sounds to me that once the officer got involved, it was pretty much out of the race tracks control.
