After waiting a week to see the second part of the Fall Fling I got my wish, their were some cars that showed up as some of the racers headed home from the Fall Nationals in Hays made the 94 mile trip to Salina for a little extra pocket change.
I was somewhat surprised at the condition of the Salina track by the time the Fall Fling B-Mod race fired off. Their was quite a bit of race track left for the racers to work with and it showed even though the race was led by Brian LaRiviere from start to finish, what else would you expect from the IMCA national champ?
For the 1st year you have to consider the Fall Fling a success, good car counts, good crowds, and of coarse great racing action.
I have to admit being from Kansas City and thinking we have some great racing in our area, their is a hole lot of races and racers that are under the radar for the Eastern part of the state of Kansas. When Horace Greeley said, "go West young man, go West," I did not think it pertained to Racing but I see the logic when it comes to central Kansas and the tracks and racers their. I had a great time and really enjoyed talking with racers and fans from the area. I will come back. Enjoy.
