I keep hearing that Ken Sands is to blame, but haven't heard a thing about WHY he is. I was there a few times earlier in the year (when it was still on Saturdays) and saw good car count and fan attendance. I think the "forced" switch to Fridays hurt, but it takes time for these things to become accepted.
Maybe a switch to a "specials only" type track would make sense.
If Bubba hadn't switched Ocala to Saturdays, my guess is they'd still be going strong.
Like I said months before....what will Bubba's army leave behind??? When they get tired of spending money and decide that this is a business.....who will be left standing???...Volusia down!!!!
well... im sorry to hear about Volusia. Hate to hear of any track closing. Racing in Florida is hanging by a thread and its sad because it wouldnt be that hard to fix. alot less EGO, alot more PROMOTION, sacrifices while we are in economic trouble... not so many classes and complete total following of rules... no mid season changes... well i think something better be done soon.
just my thoughts. wish i had the magic wand...;-)

I agree, but know what puzzles me? At the start of this yr everything was going to be great this yr, all the tracks working together etc. Etc. Then the first
Complaint on here was negativity on these boards, especially if it was me, saying it the way I saw it. After a while that calmed down, now its techs problem and certain track owners, which in my mind is negativity also. We all say promote but come on here and bash other tracks and say come to our track, its so much better. This 30-40 posts on Rex Guy, Anderson, John has solved absolutly nothing. Hey its what it is, why can't we get over it and go on something else. The whole deal is still the same way it was two weeks ago. Lets start on something else, like what a jerk or how bad Tuna is for racing, maybe a couple make believe they love me and then call me an a$$!! LOL Now all that was fun, this seals, motors, jerk owners, law suits is getting old.
Figures... I was actually going to go there Friday and finally get to see some Sprint Car racing.. oh well....
I went there twice this year... I was there on opening night (Saturday) and the atmosphere was great, everybody excited but the show was just OK mostly due to a lousy racing surface...
Went back again in early September (Friday) and many of the employees had either left or been laid off... Everyone seemed somewhat disinterested and even confused at times... This was the night of the two hour delay because of a power outage... Car count was so-so but the races were actually pretty good mainly because the track was prepped better...
Guess the writing was on the wall early on when a guy like Joe Dirt leaves his stomping grounds after many years... I do hope all of Volusia's drivers support the other dirt tracks the rest of the year and try to have some fun in the process...
well Tuna.. i think your heart for racing is all for the good of racing. However i dont think helpful criticism is always negative. ppl are just trying to save the sport in their own way. some of their criticism and ideas are really good. they sound negative but arent.
if a track owner isnt doing his/her job the bashing wont make as much of a dent in their troubles as the lack of fans and drivers. their egos will shoot them in the foot.
I have never ever come on here and bashed a track. wanted to but didnt and wont.
i do not think this message board is the problem... it doesnt help but not enough impact on the state of racing. too many BIG things need to be fixed. I also dont think the economy is the doom of racing. it has hurt some but wont destroy it.
just my opinions and they dont seem to carry much weight around here. ;-) have a nice day.

Youre right but when people are saying Rex is a jerk, he and John are the problem with short track racing, talk of law suits and Drivers being banned, talk about how Rex has it in for Wayne and this kind of stuff, it is not constructive critisism. If you were from out of town, read this on a racinh forum , let me speak for myself, I would not go to that track. I know this will make you mad Carol, but I'm NOT taking sides in this, its all been argued before. You may not realize you do this but you do grab the opportunity to knock a track down a little in order to build up Ponta Gorde. For example when you basically told Wayne or his owner something to the effect, "You wont be treated like that at Ponta Gorda, its all fun. I know you're sincere but it is implying Rex and Johns track isn't. And I dont see where it make a differance wether someone makes a living doing this or not. I do not know if the car was legal or not, but if they miss something in pre-tech and catch it later its still illegal. Pre-Tech is Pre-Tech, Pre means before, Tech is after the race. Maybe WAyne was legal, I don't know but I do know this, if it were me and I knew the motor was legal, for $5000 I WOULD of pulled it. Anyhow, I'm done with this. Carol have a nice day. As for myself I intend to be at the Triple Crown Truck race in Desoto and wish I could go to the TBARA, want to watch my Buddy with my shirt on!!! LOL Have a nice day Carol Oh, it may not of been right but I bet it was fun watching John chase the late model with the tow truck!!! Lord!! LOL
i respect your right to speak what you think. i may not agree but neither of us own a race track and neither of us can make the changes. i said it before... they dont need our criticism when they screw up. the fans and drivers are proof. anyway i sure dont have the answers. what i write is simply what i, as an outsider, think. i am a fan... nothing more, nothing less... thank you for respecting my opinions. i do not get mad... life is too short and im saving my heart for love... ;-) have a nice day...

Punta gorda is known to treat the drivers as welcomed guests! isnt perfect but from what i read i am proud of our track. in case you havent noticed i also applaud Citrus for being a professionally run race track. Critter and staff all do an awesome job. Critter rides around before the race and welcomes all the drivers and helps in any way he can.
I never said anything on here about John or Rex...i try to stay positive because outside of scuba i love racing the best. ;-)
Believe me when i tell you, i am fully aware that i am not always right!!! i am constantly reminded.......rofllllllll
the posts about Rex and Wayne may seem negative but i think alot of the things said will help avoid the same problem from happening again. I cant possibly pick sides because everything i know is word of mouth and you know how that goes...so to me that is positive... ppl trying to help...

.....
I'm not sure about this but didn't Bubba said alot of bad stuff about FL track owners when he got Ocala, and he was going to show them how to run a track and/or shut the other tracks down???
Again I may be wrong about this, but isn't it better for tracks to get together and work something out and not try and mess with fans weekend enjoyments???
you would think so.... there are thousands of racers in Fl. and not that many tracks. seems like plenty of room to schedule properly and have better counts. but a couple of greedy ppl want the whole pie and i think that will eventually be their downfall.
