Yes, 1962 when the drivers and FANS went on strike because of a purse cut.
Most of the people in the stands walked out and stood by the drivers.
That was the only time I can remember.

I don't think they ever should have started. But how can they stop it now when they have allowed teams to do it already this season? Owners have wanted franchises for a long time. Basically that's what they have now with the top 35 in owner points guaranteed to start.

Next thing you know NASCAR will allow the owners to form a UNION and have election to see who speaks for them.
