Great
150 cars in 6 divisions. My grandson started getting sleepy, just as the features started and I just had back surgery, two weeks ago, so I knew I couldn't carry him out. Just 10 dollars to get in so I had my money's worth before the features. Ivedent put a 1/2 lap on second place in the heat and I figured he had them covered, but he must have broke because he wound up 20th. I love late models but those mini-stocks put on a show. They go around there 4 wide.

Hopefully all the winners started on the pole. That is what I go to see, (ha ha).

The racing was great. The Late Model lead changed four or five times. Ivedent broke in the middle of the feature then the 17(Smith) and 1(Williams) had a battle royal going on for the lead. The 17 got boogered in lapped traffic and eventually broke. Klegg was in the lead also and then I think got a flat and was charging hard for the lead again later in the race. Rich Pratt was on fire also until his car broke. The beauty was it was anybodys race.

The crowd was good ,the flagman did a great job, the anouncer was as good as ever, the car count was great, the races were well organized! THE TRACK SURFACE WAS NOT PREPARED AND ROUGHER THAN BAD DREAM! One thing I can say it got all the kinks out of my back & losened up!
Hope DIRT gets the track better prepared this week. VOLUSIA SPEEDWAY PARK is my home track and I love racing there.

Racing would be 10 times better if tracks learned how to work together.Originally posted by backrow View PostIt's nice to see another track commenting on somebody else's show in a positive way. Haven't seen that much lately.
Figure if 2 nearby tracks have the same 10 divisions, yet ran only 5 each week and agreed to not run same divisions on same nights. Both tracks could pull each others cars, and it would give some a chance to take a week off at their home track and not lose points.

That makes sense, so it will not happen.Originally posted by ovalracer44 View PostRacing would be 10 times better if tracks learned how to work together.

Which leaves the question.... why does any area (especially Florida) have 10 divisions in the first place? Cut it back to 4 or 5 (at the Maximum), and run opposing nights.
Volusia and Ocala could pull this off pretty easily, and I think they will.
Note to Mike Peters: Stick to the basic program, and don't get influenced to add different classes.
