You're kidding right? Why in the world would ANY class need FOUR practice sessions? You have 32 practice session scheduled for 1 night of racing.

And after all that, when the cars all handle as well as possible... there will be NO PASSING when the races actually start.

No wonder there are no cars.... you've "practiced" them all to death. 35 Practice nights a year, 4 sessions per race night.... no wonder nobody can afford to actually come out to RACE.

The Colossal 100 at Lowe's has over 100 cars in ONE division. Guess how many "practice sessions" these guys get....? A single one, for 3 laps total. They spend their time and money RACING, not practicing!

Why not let the drivers get all the experience they need the good old fashioned way.... come out on race night, start at the back of your heat race, and LEARN how to drive a racecar.

I would rather have 2 8 minute practice sessions than 4 5 minute sessions. it would cut time in half also.

I have never ran more than 1 practice in a single race night. Even if the car wasn't 100%. This is what i see on a regular basis up here in NC......Gates open at 5pm, hot laps begin at 6pm (all divisions) drivers meeting 6:50pm racing starts at 7pm. 5 or 6 divisions heats and features and i'm on my way home at 10:30pm.

That's the dirt tracks. the asphalt track think they're like cup divisions (most are na$kkar sactioned anyhow). They open pits at noon, practice till 4pm, qualify till 6pm, completely waste 6 to 7 pm doing nothing, then start qualifying till 8pm. Start racing mains only.... straight up from qualifying..........(no passing). Have an intermission?? why i don't know, then let the fans wander around on the track to look at the latemodels BEFORE driver introduction!! So if your a fan and you skip melting in the summer sun watching qualifying, you pay $15.00 PLUS to see 4 divisions race over a period of about 4 hours!!!! I won't mention EXACTLY which track but i was too dumb to figure it out the 1st time so i went again. Couple weeks later drove 2 hrs 1 way to another na$kkar track and low-and-behole! Same deal.

I'M AN ASPHALT RACER SPENDING ALL MY WEEKENDS AT DIRT TRACKS!!! When my car is finished for me to start back up this season it's lookin alot like i'm gonna hang up the goggles and buy tear-offs.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Benny, I would agree with you about only running one practice session. But this is only if its my local track. Now more and more people have to travel. The first session usually gives me the changes i need to make and the second session verifies that my changes work. Then on return trips I know what works so for the first practice i will try something new. If it doesnt work I go back to what i would normally run for the second practice to dial it in. This helps because its hard to tow 4 hours to a track for a practice way that usually leads to only a handful of practices anyways. 2 short 8 minute practice sessions are a good fit at most places

You're kidding right? Why in the world would ANY class need FOUR practice sessions?

for the first night of the regular season and with a big SLM race? i don't have that much of a problem.

besides, hardly anyone is going to actually use all 4 sessions. many racers won't even get to the track until 5 or 6 o'clock due to work and travel time. i would not be surprised to see a couple of classes get their scheduled practice time skipped to not having any cars in that class in the lineup when their clock comes around.

when the cars all handle as well as possible... there will be NO PASSING when the races actually start.

this is actually a problem with starting fast cars up front. and i'm happy to say that FASCAR is going to change their line up procedure this year.

the SLM's will probably suck as they're qualifying and will probably invert fewer than 12 but the rest of the classes should be pretty mixed up and will continue to be so for the rest of the year.

Couple weeks later drove 2 hrs 1 way to another na$kkar track and low-and-behole!

yeah, NASCAR has pretty much proven that they're clueless when it comes to short track stuff. starting the field straight up for a 20 lap short track race is dumb. doing it for a 500 mile race on a 1+ mile track is irretrievably retarded.

LEARN how to drive a racecar

say what? learn how to drive? whatchoo talkin bout Willis? i thought i was just supposed to stand on the gas and jerked the wheel to the left if i thought i was going to hit the wall. don't care if i hit another car, Ward Burton done tole me "Eight wheels corner better than four".

can this racing ( not practice ) schedule be kept? it's ambitious but i've been to a couple of asphalt tracks that might be able to make it work. i've never seen a FASCAR track come anywhere close to getting it done but i would really like to be surprised.

the thing that really jumps out at me is ACCIDENTS. most times the wrecker crews take 5-10 minutes or more for every wreck cleanup. so, we have 3 possibilities:
              1. the wrecker crews have been getting the hell drilled out of them and they are now a slickly oiled machine that can get a 3 car pile up off of the track in two caution laps or less
              2. OSW is going to mind the clock and a whole bunch of races ( heats and features both ) are going to get a checker under yellow with 5 or fewer laps in the book
              3. OSW is going to ignore the clock and we'll be there till 3am Saturday.

anybody want to start a pool on which option it's going to be?
