  • Suggestion for OSW

I sure am looking forward to the track opening up this Friday!

I see that Legends and Bandeleros are on the schedule. It is my understanding that INEX requires the Bandeleros to be on the same program if Legends are running, and that both classes get to run heats, even though I assume that everyone else is features only, right? Its no secret that I find the Bandeleros to be "show stoppers", and not in the good sense.

In the past, OSW has usually opened the show with Bandelero heats. That is the show-business equivalent of bringing out Jimmy Spencer to tap dance while you keep the Rockettes waiting in the wings. Is it possible to try something different this time? Could the Bandelero heats be run early, say at 6? 7? How about running them really late?

because they bring lots of warm bodies through the pit gate.

Allright, I am going to try and state this as nicely as possible. I am sponsored by a professional hockey team and occasionally display the car at the arena during games. I cannot tell you how many people have come up to me and said that they used to go to the track fairly regular, but quit attending when the track started to run the Legends cars. Personally, I respect the Legend drivers and cars, but bottom line, they do not thrill race fans for the most part. The Legends racing is actually fairly competitive, but the cars are hard to distinguish from each other, plus they mix divisions (Masters and Pros etc.) which makes it even more confusing.
I don't see alot of dirt tracks running the Legends, but the majority of asphalt tracks run them or the dwarf cars. I think it could be a reason for dirt's rise and asphalt's decline.

P.S. I do not race at OSW, so I am not critizing them in particular.

First off, if the announcer knows what's going on, he can easily describe how Legend Car racing works with the different divisions mixed together... It's still one race though...
The Legends actually run several different body styles, so I don't know how you can say they all look the same... Here in FL, a SLM, LM, Crate LM and a Sportsman basically all look the same except for paint and graphics... Same thing in Sprint Cup too...
