Others and myself have been bashed when we don't agree with something done at our local tracks. We've been told the complaining is detrimental to local racing. Every track I have been to has boards in the stands that I feel should be repaired. But the thing I do not understand is why do some of these same people (I didn't say everyone) comes on here bashing Desoto when a board breaks and a couple people get hurt, wether serious or not, its a shame it happened. The same thing can happen at New Smyrna, Orlando, Ponta Gorda, the list goes on and on. It kinda makes me think of knocking someone when they're down. If everyone is so concerned about not talking bad about local racing, instead of kicking the track when something like this happens why don't us fans offer to donate some labor to help replace some of these boards? This is my offer, if Desoto will let me, I will come over, stay in motor home and donate 2-3 days labor, just ask.

Unfortunately, the promoters are not going to post on here. But I would be willing to help with labor and tools also.
If Desoto or Auburndale needs help on anything (boards, painting, even mowing and weed eating) Please call me at 863-202-5996. It will be kept confidential.
Thanks."Faster and Faster, 'Till the Thrill of Speed Overcomes the Fear of Death"

well racefan if your insinuating about NSS they have ALL wooden boards in the pits and about 1/4 mile of WOODEN stands on the front straight away. I haven't been to OSW for a while but last time I was ALL the stands in the pits were wood and i THINK the main grandstand also. Also the last time to Ocala the stands were wood so I don't know where you're talking about. I doubt many tracks can afford to change to aluminum stands, but the way everyone is saying we need to support our tracks, I would be happy to donate a couple days or so of tools and labor. 386/690-2189Originally posted by Racefan99 View PostIt seems unlikely to me that a board would break at tracks that have aluminum bleachers.

Tunaman, this isn't being negative but, the point is and has been for years. The cost of the boards. I don't think if any track were to get the boards and ask for fans, drivers and pit crews to come out one Saturday and put the boards in. The track would have no problem finding help from those groups replacing the old ones boards with new ones.Originally posted by tunaman View PostOthers and myself have been bashed when we don't agree with something done at our local tracks. I understand that Rick, it would cost a lot of money to replace them all, but on the other hand labor is expensive too. I also know lts of people don't have the time, they work. My point was I can get away this time of yr, its my off season, I think it could be fun and a way to contribute to the cause of racing, and seems more constructive than everyone throwing rocks at the track. I agree, I thought the stands looked kinda tired myself, I DO feel bad for the fans that got hurt and just thought if I could help I would. I've helped drivers as a way to contribute to the sport and that didnt really work out so hey, maybe help a track?? I just don't appreciate being called a brown noser, I brown no man Rick I'd be happy to have a beer with you sometime Rick .Originally posted by Rick Williamson View PostTunaman, this isn't being negative but, the point is and has been for years. Owners and oprerators will NOT comment on the quality of their boards or really be to critical of the size of the butts that sit thereon, they do not wish to arm the lawyers or offend the patrons, I have seen precious few tracks in Florida with wood stands that could not find a few that need replacing due either dry rot or warpage.

Do all the tracks a favor and get people and cars back to the races.
When the tracks are dooing this bad it hard to get work done... Donate your time every day to geting cars and fans back to the tracks in your town.this will give the tracks some funds and the want to fix the place up..
The fans and drivers for the last few years have acted like the track owners are the enemy. When they quit trying to fix this broken sport it is over. So dont bash them try to help them in all cases....no mater what you think they did to you with out them you wont have a place to race..

Your right Don. I have brought several new people to the races and spreading the word around to bring more. I am doing my part. But it's going to take everyone who is involved in everyway to bring this sport back."Faster and Faster, 'Till the Thrill of Speed Overcomes the Fear of Death"

Mistake
I was just called out by a lugnut in a private PM. He told me he left KARNAC because of my lies, yet he PM me to point out "another lie" by me. He also is one that says he puts people on his ignore list and then comes on without signing in, for all the sense that makes. I mistakenly said Ocala had wooden seats, it was a mistake. I assured him it wasn't a lie but a mistake. I also pointed out anyone as perfect as him wouldn't know the differance between a lie and a mistake. So I do apoligize for the MISTAKE! I agree with you and Veasey Don, Throwing stones at a track solves nothing.

Just for info: Ocala has aluminum seats on the front stretch, but turns 4 and one have wooden bleechers. All the seats in the pit area are wood. When Bubba took over, a lot of the wood seats were replaced in the turn 4 bleechers too.
-JIM-RIP Jack Smith and Kim Brown. Many thanks for all you have done for our sport.

Very interesting. I've only been to Ocala, yrs ago when it was asphalt, to a truck race. Need to go again. What I actually meant to say was VCS, I believe I remember the seats there were wood? Again, the point was lets offer to help instead of throwing stones. I know the owners probably wont accept help because that may be admitting there was a problem but was just an idea.Originally posted by ocalasp76 View PostJust for info: Ocala has aluminum seats on the front stretch, but turns 4 and one have wooden bleechers.
