Went to Desoto with a 633 and was hitting 7000 half way down the straight...

I ran a 6:20 at Desoto and Ocala in sportsman at about 6800..
Orlando is a little smaller than 3/8 mile I think though.

The original construction plans for Speedworld had it as a 1/3rd mile. DeSoto was built off the same plans but was increased to a 3/8ths mile. They both advertise to be 3/8ths mile, but there is no way you can run a Orlando gear at DeSoto. You will be turning your engine way up at DeSoto with a Orlando gear resulting in possible catrostropic engine failure.

Yep had the plans in my hand and they added 80' to the stright away at desoto! Nascar and the ins co have nervr mazde up their minds how the size shold be done... 8' of the bottom is what all the ols racers have done for years.
dont need homework just better math...5280' is a mile da'' 1320 is the ph# for the drag strip.

Just to keep the record straight. No 1/2mile record got broke. Volusia is NOT the fastest half mile. Volusia is not even 1/2 mile track. It is only .43 miles just like Eldora. Almost a full .10 mile shorter than the rest of the tracks that call their self's a half mile. The fastest "true" dirt half mile was and still is Belleville High Banks.

Actually Google earth can measure them. Does anybody do any research before they post. It ain't that hard. I did about two minutes of research. This might help you guys get your facts straight. A half mile is 2640 feet and it is measured 12 feet up from the bottom of the track surface.

.43 miles @ 12.707, or 121.94 (average MPH)
Williams Grove
.53 miles @ 16.140, or 118.22 (average MPH)
