It's the right move. any class not bring in cars should be removed.I have a mod mini and blew the motor.instead of putting a motor in it for 4,000 bucks and run against 2 cars I'm going to strictly stock.its cheaper and more cars.way more fun! they should start paying strictly stocks I bet there would be 25 cars a week

Yea dave now that is what i said!!!Originally posted by ancrdave View PostOSW dropping the Saturday show which showcased the Legends and other traveling groups of cars started the demise... Dick Westfall, Russ Thomson and Rusty Marcus went the extra mile to put the Saturday deal together and, despite the fact it did not draw crowds (Dick & Rusty never had enough financial support from the home office to adequately promote it), it was usually the only FASCAR-sanctioned show each week that made money because the purses were either low or the classes ran for just trophies... We had as many as 30 Legend Cars for those programs... With the current crop of Legend Car teams, Friday just doesn't work since most of these folks are located from just West of Orlando to the Tampa area... The traffic situation and other factors have to be taken into account... If you remember, several Legend teams on those Saturday programs traveled from as far away as Ft. Myers, Dania, and Sarasota to race... The Legend car program at Auburndale has developed a new crop of drivers from the general Lakeland area and they really don't want to race anywhere else. Auburndale should thank their lucky stars they have the Legends because it's the only class really drawing a decent car count each week... Bronson Speedway has started a Legends class and what they want to do is similar to what Punta Gorda has been doing in SW Florida... bulid up their own program of Legends in North/North Central Florida and not have to rely on teams that want to "travel." The Legends are a cost-effective way to get into racing on a reasonable budget with a car that really requires little maintenance as long as you don't stuff it in the wall every week... I've always wondered why East Bay hasn't tried to start a class of Legends on the dirt there... The cars put on a good show on dirt and it probably wouldn't take long to get a strong class running there...
As far other classes with low counts like Mini Stock etc., the owner/promoter who decides to start up a class or two of cars using current automotive technology (not Strictly Stocks, but real racing cars) and finally abandon running cars that are basically 30 years old will be far ahead of the game when the crop of RWD and V-8 engines run out eventually... Run cars that younger fans can identify with and maybe the crowds will pick up. I wonder if any kid sitting in the stands has asked his dad "Did they have those Camaro things back when you were a kid?"
Fun racing now that would be a new consept.

Thank You !!! We do have alot of talented young drivers and a few decent old farts..................Originally posted by Racefan99 View PostThe Legends are a great class to watch, at tracks where they get a good field of them. Same for the champ karts with their crazy bump-drafting, and the Mini Cups.
It takes a talented driver to wheel a Legend around most tracks. If I owned a late model and were looking for a young driver, that is probably the division I'd watch the closest.

I also
like the legends.....But you need cars to make a race. I would rather watch a fifteen car ANYTHING race than a 3 or 4 car late model race. If they could not get the cars then how could they keep scheduling them ? If i ran a legend and was close enouph i would be callin and checking other tracks.Doug Miller # 53

The only info I know of that I have on facebook is whatever I put on there. I DO have a mac computer and it recognizes acam and all thet crap, and won't even open it. But heck, thats everyplace.Originally posted by dd38 View PostWhat if some of them don't do facebook??? Too much risk. Why don't they do something on here?
