we could never do that here

I go to Indy for the 3 hour every year & you could never do a show like that in FL. racing is a part of life there, they have race cars like people have boats down here & there is such a huge following of racing there it's just not the same. It would be awesome but you would never get the car or fan support to have events like that.

Didn't check out the link yet, but is this the Redbud 300 or Rosebud 300 or whatever it was called?

I was just up there 2 weeks ago, I thought the same thing, it's a way of life up there. I sat and thought about why it is so different up there for while when I got back. I think one of the major factors for the sucess in that area of the country, is the fact that they really only get 4 months of racing in each year. So it kind of gets saturated because of the condensed time frame, you can find asphalt races 4-5 nights a week. We race almost year round down here, so all the excitment gets spread out over a years time. That's part of the reason the NFL is so popular, 16 game season, plus the playoffs. If there was an NFL game every Sunday, it would lose it's appeal, just like racing has in Florida. It's just not a special event anymore, you can go to a racetrack just about every week.

              61. you are right about the time frame. St. Pete had either a 22 or 26 week racing season.

Wow, that is a heck of a group of drivers right their. Are you guys following it on speed51. Elliott car has been the class of the field all day and should be able to lead at will. Blaney is coming into his own. Dorer has been sent to the rear for contact. Kenseth is already out after being collected by Hantz and now Elliott is taking the lead on the outside and it is only about lap 50. got to get back to the race.

Again Wow. It has been pretty much a crash fest. Everybody outside the top 8 have been involved in a yellow or have been a lap down. Waiting for the line up for the second half. I think there is only about 10 on the lead lap. It's time for the restart. Got to go.

Yellow with 50 to go for fluid on the track. Elliott's car can pull a ten car lenth lead in about two lap after every restart. Everybody is battling for second. Dorer got the lucky dog before the half way break and took 3 tires and is in the top ten. Green Green Green

Dorer takes the win in the last 5 feet!!!!! On the last restart they said Elliott was blocking and Dorer faked low and took the lead hi. Like I said WOW. What a race. To bad the live broad cast went out half way.

So CRA had 30 cars for 300 laps and a $50,000 purse? (im sure its more than that) . OSW had 23 cars for a 100 lap race and a $10,000 purse (im sure it was less).
Now comes the Qustion WHO IS THE WINNER?

                            The answer
                            STEVE DORER

                            don62
buy a ticket or shut up

It was 5k to win the Redbud, plus a bunch of contingency money too from sponsors. Actual pay out was probably right at 30k. I saw it posted somewhere before the race, but can't find it now. 5k to win, 400 to start.
