  • The Reason Carl Edwards Is Winning So Much

Bill Posey sent me this photo of himself, Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp and Charlie Orr which was taken at Daytona last month... Charlie is the late Pete Orr's oldest son and he is now working for Roush Racing as a shock specialist for Carl Edwards' team... No wonder Carl has won 2 of 3 so far this year!! If you know Charlie Orr, he is one outstanding young man, a chip off the old block, and it's great to see him doing so well!!

I want to know how leaving the cap off an oil tank will create this downforce situation people talk about. Seems to me all it would do is make a mess

i agree, i'd like a demo on the cutaway car this weekend. the way they're talking they're making it sound like it's actually a firewall patch around a filler neck or something.

regardless, NASCAR always has had a hard-on for Roush.

are they ganking Carl's Chase bonus points for the win or is this just a debit on the overall point total?

Both they took away 100 points and his 10 point bonus for the chase.

As for the hardon for roush, I cant stand him and would probably be willing to do a night in jail for slapping him in his ugly mouth. He gets on tv and anywhere else someone will listen to him and whines about toyota and how much money they are willing to spend, when he himself is circumventing the rules on how many cars one person can own by having a couple in his wifes name and one in who knows whos name by now. Maybe he should sit back and take a shot of his own medicine that has all but completely put one of the oldest teams in nascar right out the door. The wood brothers.

yeah they took 100 regular season points away, and the 10 bonus points he would get for the win at the start of the chase.

And don't forget about the Edwards pit crew pulling out body work during pit stops.

because ... you're not allowed to pull on body panels during pit stops?

i think that's going to be news to every single pit crew at the track ... as well as to the NASCAR inspectors who are watching them do ( get away with? ) it.

                      whines about toyota

you do realize that this all boils down to a popularity contest and that if you're going to go that route, taking Toyota's side isn't the brightest thing? Toyota being in NASCAR has generated a good deal of ill will from a significant percentage of fans just because they're there ( and japanese ).

besides, i don't care how big any team is, they don't have but the tiniest fraction of the resources that a manufacturer can throw at NASCAR.

when he himself is circumventing the rules on how many cars one person can own

                      1. and you think Hendrick isn't doing this? you aren't paying very much attention.

                      2. no matter how much you may want to complain about it, it's not against the NASCAR rulebook. it's certainly far less against the spirit of the rules than all the extra testing on the COT that Hendrick did last year.

shot of his own medicine that has all but completely put one of the oldest teams in nascar right out the door.

hah. the failure of the Wood bros is all Jack Roush's fault. Hendrick wins 50% of the races last year but it's all Roush's fault. yeah. don't forget to blame Yates on him while you're at it.

maybe they ought to consider making a serious move towards a multi-car team?

maybe they ought to stop trying to use it as a vanity ride for Jon and get somebody competitive to drive?

maybe they ought to consider not PO'ing their team co-owners so they can keep them so they'll have the funds to do things first class?

if you're losing your mind this badly about the Wood Bros, what are you going to do when Bobby Labonte leaves Petty next year and when Kyle eventually retires? i suppose it's possible that Kyle will decide the team has to perform if it's not going to, you know, actually put a Petty into the field. because without the Petty name to market, they aren't going to be able to get by cheaping out on everything like they do now.

Check the rule book. In short, no, you're not allowed to just go pulling on the body panels of the new COT during a pitstop.

And no, it shouldn't be news to every single pit crew at the track.

then you'd better tell the NASCAR tech inspectors that watch all of these pit stops. it doesn't matter if something is "in the rulebook" or not if the tech guys never enforce it. see ..., nah, i don't feel like getting barred before the season even starts.

or is it possible that the body panels in question were being pulled out after contact with the wall or another car? which would render the whole point moot.

So now toyota is to blame for their intelligence? They have not broken the spirit of any rules. The camry is built in USA. The charger, impala, and fusion are all built out of the usa. I am only hard on roush because he is hard on toyota. Hendrick doesn't say anything about toyota. I have other reasons for hating rick hendrick. That man is a no good liar and criminal. Lieukemia my arse, that man caught a case of the house arrests.

NASCAR will become a race of 10 4 car teams and a 3 car team. How fun will that be to watch?
