Anderson started on the pole(how does he manage to do this every race?) and led the first 20 laps or so. Russell passed him on the outside and never looked back. Travis Cope put on the best show by being sent to the rear after a spin. He worked his way back up to third place. Scofield started pretty strong but faded away. They started 17 cars with a majority of them being field fillers IMO!
Congrats to local boy Jason Garver on a fifth place finish1
I was REAL surprised that LCS charged $20 for this show. My friends and wife wanted to get back in the car and go to the dirt track!
We got there 15 minutes late and missed the three car streetstock race and luckily the hornet race as well. Probably 3 or 4 cars... I don't know how the place is staying open..sigpic

I've been going to Bubba's place mostly unless there's a special show at North Florida. It's kinda hard for me to justify going to Lake City Speedway these days since the car count is so low. It's just boring....
This is the first year I've been a spectator so I'll even go to Volushia once in awhile if my friend is running his modified.
I ran into an old friend while at LCS last night and he says he's building a sportsman car that should be ready in a month or so. He asked if I'd be interested in driving again and of course I said, YES! I'm not holding my breath on this one but who knows??sigpic

There is no effort on the part of the United Promoters Late Model Series generated to get the fans excited about attending any of their races. Many times fans don't even know when and where the series is racing or who the drivers are that will be showing up. Additionally there should not be comments from fans appearing at online media outlets about who won the UPLMS race at such and such track. The story and results of a race should be released as soon as possible.
Super Late Models are the fastest, and potentially most exciting form of stock car racing in the state of Florida. The United Promoters Late Model Series management, through its abysmal promoting, does nothing to tap into this great potential.
As for the comment about Wayne Anderson always starting on the pole, that is the by product of qualifying by time trials. It is not his fault that he is a very talented race car driver who is working within the system.
If you want to have excitement handicapping is the answer. Handicapping always assures the best racing action for the fans with the faster cars starting in the back having to work their way up through the field. There was nothing more exhilarating for me than watching the likes of a Richie Evans patiently and methodically picking his way from the back of a starting field. That is the treat that many fans miss out on with qualifying based on time trials.Last edited by John Berti; 07-17-2011, 10:00 PM.

I missed qualifying but I'm assuming Wayne qualified on the pole and pulled a 1 pill or maybe he qualified worse and the pole sitter pulled a pill that allowed Wayne to be on the poll. I don't know it just seems that everytime I see an asphalt late model race, Anderson's on the poll or at worst starting 2nd! They really need a new system!
Pay the top qualifer a couple hundred bucks for his efforts and then have the top 5 start mid pack at least.sigpic

Bowman Gray Stadium pays there Modified drivers $650 to win a 25 lap race and $1500 to win a 100 lapper. With these cars costing so much to race how do they end up with a full field every week? They promote the drivers and the track to no end. They build everything up so much , the drivers, the track, that you have the feeling and excitement level like they are going for the Daytona 500 win. It is all about promotion. 15000 fans every Saturday night can't be wrong.

Karnac.com is more than just message boards. You'll be surprised what you will find out by going to Florida Stock Car Racing.
A gentle reminder to race tracks and traveling series. Please send your press releases to me at jberti-karnac@gmx.com and I'll gladly post them for you on Florida Stock Car Racing. I notice that some tracks are posting their press releases on the message boards. This is most inappropriate. Message boards are for fan talk about racing and not for press releases and race results.
