  • Race tracks and Facebook

More race tracks should start their own thing on FaceBook. Most of these kids - and a lot of adults, too - nowadays can't keep a cell phone out of their hands, and they're connected to the 'Net almost 24/7. Almost every race track up here in Ohio has a FaceBook page; great way to keep up with weather at the track, track photos, schedule changes, practice nights, etc. The only track I know of in Florida right now that has a FaceBook page is Auburndale; I'm still subscribed to it, even though I'm in Ohio now...and they're constantly updating.

New Smyrna and Orlando have their own Facebooks... both had to be switched over to "fan pages" as they exceeded the 5,000 friends limit earlier this year.

New Smyrna and Orlando had over 5,000 "friends"? Are they all out of state or something...?? LOL....why aren't they showing up to the tracks...?

OK, found Orlando and New Smyrna. I can't add New Smyrna because it "has too many friends".

These need to be made into either "Group" or "Business" pages; Midvale Speedway up here is listed on FaceBook as "Sports Venue", as is Punta Gorda. Not just a "regular" FaceBook page where you hit the "Add Friend' button. You need a "Like" button.

Here are the links to the two Punta Gorda Pages they are both fan pages so you have to like them not friend request them.

Punta Gorda Speedway fan page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/...11494442260449

The second one has racing photos and updates.

As I stated, I switched New Smyrna over to a fan page due to the fan count being too large. Look it up under sports venues.

Mark you may want to close down the old New Smyrna Speedway and Orlando Speedway FB pages cause the new NSS page only has 382 likes and OSW has 141 likes.Looks like everyone is still posting on the old pages and will miss the updates from the new ones.
