I can't believe it is once again time for our annual JDRF walk for a cure. For those who don't know my son has type 1 diabetes and was diagnosed over 11 1/2 years ago just two weeks before he turned 5. It is hard to believe he is 16 and a Junior in high school this year, something we thought would happen. When he was diagnosed, his blood sugar was 485 and his little veins were shutting down. We had to have a specialist come in to start two IV's, one in each arm. We were told to pray that he made it through the first day and night, if he did it would be a miracle. Well, here he is today, a teenager who loves computers and video games. Chris is also a Youth Ambassador for JDRF.
Our walk is this Saturday, March 1st and we have been so busy with activities at school that I have not gotten on here to post about it. Our school's boys basketball team is headed to state in Lakeland, our first time and we are the favorite to win. Along with that I do alot with the Junior class with fundraisers and also the PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship) President. So truly I am a full time volunteer with absolutely no pay.
I am writing to ask for donations for my son's walk team, Christopher's Conquerors. We have until the end of April to turn in all of our money we collect. Donations that I have now will be turned in on Saturday at the walk but Chris always tries to raise $1,000 to get a special recognition, "The Golden Sneaker Award". He has $540 raised so far.
If you are interested in donating to find a cure for diabetes, please email me and I will send you a copy of Chris's newsletter. Checks made out to JDRF and they are tax deductible. mrsbubbached@yahoo.com
As soon as we can, I will be back racing with a new paint job and also my car will say "Racing for a Cure". I am keeping my #43 but would like a new paint scheme on the car. Can you guess what color I want to make it? Whatever I make from racing goes to JDRF.
