Please keep Dave in your prayers... I heard he had a heart attack recently and this morning I received a note from Harry Campbell that Dave is now in Hospice care... Dave is without a doubt probably the greatest driver in the history of Florida racing... He could drive and win in anything... I saw him take cars that other drivers would simply pull off the track with and give up and put them in the top five easily... The guy could pass cars at Sunshine like they were driving in the other direction... Get well soon!

Dave was our first "west-coast" driver that I can remember in our car, in about '76 or '77 at the 'Gate and at Sunshine. Few years later, with Childers driving, we'd be fightin' the "Lil' General" for not just one track championship, but *four* (two each at the 'Gate and Sunshine).
Didn't get to see ol' Dave in the "Fantastic 8"; but man, did he wheel the hell outta Stanford's Inter-Bay Marine #69's, Ward's .30-'06, and Buzzie's 00 in the mid '80s.
Dave in our car at the '77 200:
Scarborough in the first version of the 69:
Scarborough was also a helluva Sprint car driver:
We'll keep him in our prayers, Dave. Thanks for the news.

Dave Scarborough
I first saw Dave race at the old Brevard County Speedway in Eau Gallie in he summer of 1957 in a '34 Ford sedan. He was good then and just got better over time. As good was he was at Sunshine he never gave a poor performance at West Palm Beach or Golden Gate or Anderson, Indiana for that matter. He was good in modifieds, supermodifieds, sprint cars, late models and almost anything he decided to crawl into. On top of that he was easy to talk to, almost always a gentleman and a hard racer from lap one. If having the respect of your fans and peers is a sign of accomplishment, Dave Scarborough is at the apex right now. If you're a Scarborough fan my condolences, if you're not, you missed out of enjoying one of the best drivers the state of Florida ever produced.
