  • NASCAR's new points system? Seems to be working.

Just when you thought that the FORD parade was invincible. BANG! BOOM!!! POP!!! WIZZZZZ!!! @%*&%^$!!!!! PUFF! It was a BAD day for Carl. We have all been waiting for the NASCAR mighty hand to slap the POWER from the FORD new motor (because of the HUGE point lead Carl had over the rest of the field), but wait a part failure changed everything. Yes, Carl still in the lead, but only one Ford in the top 10 Pocono:

    1 3 24 Jeff Gordon Chevrolet
    2 1 22 Kurt Busch Dodge
    3 34 18 Kyle Busch Toyota
    4 14 48 Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet
    5 32 29 Kevin Harvick Chevrolet
    6 21 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. Chevrolet
    7 16 42 Juan Montoya Chevrolet
    8 27 17 Matt Kenseth Ford
    9 8 39 Ryan Newman Chevrolet
    10 31 56 Martin Truex Jr. Toyota

And 3 of the 4 Manufactures in top with Ford highest Matt in 8th. Personally I like all of the Manufactures. Heck I'd like the see Caddy or Honda joint in. The bottom line is the NEW NASCAR points systems seems to be working well. At least it very easy to grasp. Here's the where we are in the Race for the Case!!!!
    1 -- Carl Edwards +6 lead
    2 -- Jimmie Johnson
    3 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr.
    4 -- Kevin Harvick
    5 -- Kyle Busch
    6 -- Kurt Busch
    7 -- Matt Kenseth
    8 +1 Clint Bowyer
    9 -1 Tony Stewart
    10 -- Ryan Newman

    11 +2 Jeff Gordon
    12 -1 Denny Hamlin

    22 -1 Brad Keselowski 1 WIN
    27 +2 Regan Smith 1 WIN

So this week a MOTOR CITY sure will be a weekend of Manufacture looking for bragging rights.
What's in your thoughts of the NEW NASCAR points system?
    GOoooo NASCAR GOoooo!!!!!!!!

Exactly who is the point system working for??? What was it supposed to accomplish? Homogenized, cookie cutter cars and tracks parity racing is good?

Many folks think this is why interest, attendance and TV ratings have been declining for the last several years.

The old (Bob Latford) system seemed just fine.

    Gooo? Isn't that someting messy?

The race at Pocono was about as boring as a race could get... Need to take one race from there and put it at a really good track...
Ratings will begin to drop sharply now that FOX is out of the picture... Those of us that don't have cable or a dish can't watch any more races this year... In this economy right now a lot of folks are giving up their cable because they can't afford it or are having it disconnected because they don't pay for it...

I'll guarantee if the economy hadn't taken the dump it did a few yrs ago, NASCAR would be pay per view. I agree it stinks for the ones that do not have cable, really no more tv than I watch I shouldn't have cable. But I guarantee NASCAR isn't going broke right now.
What I'm concerned about is the local short tracks. The excuse at the short tracks is the economy, but at NASCAR its cookie cutter cars. One BIG obvious problem for both is $$$$$. It buys exceptions, favoritism. I just cant believe how people are being told if they don't like the rules not being followed then go someplace else. Just a shame, so many have gone someplace else.

          Nascar

From the race result, it seems that most of the racers are driving Chevrolet which simply means that chevy parts are good for racing especially if it has new s10 lowering kit on it.

            Can't wait for the weekend!!!!

With all the changes last year, and the few adjustment this year. IT'T GOING TO BE GREAT!!!! I think the Ford Camp is ready. Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota better get their "A" game together!!!

Whatever, locking in the top 35 in points is a complete joke, it totally screws the little underfunded teams. I have not been to a race since this started and will not go until its changed. I even had free tickets to the 500 last year and didn't go.
