The Florida Midget Auto Racing Association (FMARA) ran it's first of two events at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness with Mike Belusar of Punta Gorda collecting the feature win but not before a hard fought battle with Chris Gimmler from Palm Beach Gardens. Belusar started in the eighth position and quickly drove through the field and into second place. Gimmler held off Belusar for many laps and through two restarts before finally losing the lead in the closing laps. Gimmler held on for second with Jamie Barnum of Brooksville in third. Rounding out the top five was Steven Maier of Port St. Lucie in fourth and Geoff Styner out of Cape Coral in fifth. Belusar also was the winner of the heat race. The FMARA will return to Citrus County Speedway in October. Join us for our next race on June 18th at Punta Gorda Speedway.
