See thats what i dont get they say you can have this or you can put that on all you do is add weight.Do you think the tech guy weighing everyones car is going to set and count the add on's so he'll know what your car's suppost weigh he!! no he's going to send you right on through if your at minimun and the left % is ok.If it were me i would do what he does cause it doesnt sound like there adding when he's adding. If they say something he!! tell them you were copying his car cause it passed tech.Ive done it before and when they noticed they teched top 5 cars to to get us all straightend..

[QUOTE=Boneman;76035]That's good that protests have gone way up

It is the protest fees that have gone way up. As a result, the protest activity has gone way down.

That's what I meant. It should cost what it currently is or more to take apart an engine. It costs that to put it back together if you can't do it yourself...and if you can do it yourself your time is worth more than the protest money.

I 100% agree with you Boneman, the winner should have to start last every week, the top three should for that matter. Let the fast cars race to the front. I'll cya on the 18th

So it was always the most recent 4 weeks. If you missed one night you went back behind 15th where the 16th thru the field started. I had my share of 13th, 14th, 15th place starts. But that's kinda hard to do now since there are not 15 cars in a class hardly anymore. But I thought that worked pretty good. First nite I ran Sunshine, I started 24th and had cars behind me (finished 9th). Because how it works the next week I started 9th and finished 8th. WOW! Those were the days.
Hell they cant even get 15 cars for a 50 lap feature!!

Like DD38 said, i too raced in a 4 week average. It kept the field shook up with good racing without completely trying to handicap good cars that guys did their homework on.

Also, to touch on Jim SP76 reply i raced at Ocala in 97 i think when Alan McCafferty was smoking our butts in hobbystock every week. He won 4 in a row and track tore him down bumper-to-bumper (took everything off or apart or both). I stayed for that teardown and he was legal.

I went home that night, went into the shop the next morning and threw all my notes away and said to myself, "this isn't working......i have to try something else" LOL.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Not to sure that this is true but the fella you are talking about is just some guy that you dont know so well.I'm thinking he just has a fast car and has the ability of getting through tech each week. When your car is good everyone talks but when your car is bad no one cares but yourself and i'm sure that car is 3300lb according to the rules. Dont think tech would be THAT foolish.

Like ive said before if tech does there job an takes the time to count up the add ons to get total weight on all the cars that cross the scale thats fine and dandy but in my experiance ive never seen a tech do that. With a show going on they do the basic weigh an push them through as fast a they can to get ready for the next class to roll across.

                  leaders

If our concern is so much about the crowd getting bored about one team winning all the time, Why do you think our crowds are so low? Its not because one team wins every week it because they are doing a poor job in letting the people know much fun it is at the track and getting new people coming to we need a media group to support the racing in central florida like to the show we had with Buddy an Glen. We also need to have some commercials on radio and tv spots, I know that takes money and effort but this what we need to promote our sport. When all the pro sports go into lockouts they will need something to do and a place to go to have fun.why not make it local racing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not going to get to in depth with this one...BUT thats the tech's responsibility whether you agree with it or not. If The rules are put in place by the track management and their tech people. Then it is their responsibility to follow what they have put in writing. It is not the point that you have done that before, It IS the point that things that are placed in writing are followed.

Ok now for a comment about the actual post that started, a dominating car in a class, no matter what class it is. To be honest and frank if they would start that driver in the rear, or better yet, do full field inverts based off of the heat races or qualifying, as this does create more talented drivers throughout the field. If an ok driver with good equipment is forced to start in the back, he/she will be become a much better and more talented/skilled driver.

Take what you like, from that statement but it is a very honest, straight, and to the point comment.

Yes thats the best thing that could hapen to any racer that wins.Who likes to race by them selfs anyway? You can put some of these cars in the back some will still win and some wont it will show how well they really are.Lets face it its not about he/she should add weight becuse they win let the tech guy and our friends that run the tracks figure something out thats fair.If you still feel its not right shut your mouth and protest!!!!!!!!

Like the track owners seem to say, "If you don't like it, go someplace else". And they have!!

Just to set the record straight my name is Steve Griffin and I drive the black #3 mod mini. I have been racing ministocks since 1997 and have gotten pretty good at it finally. I can remember when I first started their was some drivers out there that were really good like Robbie Yoakam,Rick Sirmins,Robbie Storer and a bunch more. It took me alot of years to get to the caliber I am at now a days. First and foremost it does not cost $10,000 to build a mod mini that can win. I have about $5500 in my motor and it has lasted me two seasons so far. Way over 500 laps, probably more like 1000 laps on my motor. I just finished building another one with the best parts and I had $3200 in the bottom end. If you build these motors right they will last 2 seasons. I am here to tell anyone that is interested to know the black #3 is for sale for $5500 race ready with all spare parts and $8500 for everything I have plus the brand new motor that has 0 time on it. The new motor will last just as long as you want it to. You make the decision on how you take care of it. Maintenance is the key. I love this class and I do start in the back of the heat race every week. I finish up front so I get to start up front. If I started in the rear for the feature every week also then I would have to buy tires every other week. Instead of penalizing someone for being fast. Unload the car after the races every week and try something different on the setup because no car is ever perfect. Buy the car at the track after the race and you will have what I had. Have a great day and see you at the track.
