  • Nice gesture @ NSS

While at NSS last night, I observed the autograph session. I personally didn't go on the track but instead just observed. As i was watching I noticed this young man, (kid) whatever, I'm a terrible guess at age but I'll guess around 11-12 something like that. He and lots of other people were walking around chatting with the drivers, sitting in the cars etc.
This one kid asked Robert Deal, a nice looking red and yellow mod, if he could sign the car! Maybe this happens all the time, its the first time I noticed a kid signing a car instead of asking for an autograph. Robert yelled at his friends, "I'M getting HIS autograph"!! Not a big deal , no pun intended, i guess but it was to that kid. I can hear that kid now, everytime he sees that car saying"My name is on that car".!! I have never met Robert but again it was a nice gesture. ALSO, this will shock most of you that I say this but give the devil his due. I watched Boneman give an old trophy to, I believe the same kid. That kid was in second heaven, he will never forget that night. Sometimes we forget how BIG some LITTLE things are to these kids. Maybe I should of stood behind my buddy Boneys idea to give away some of his old trophies to the kids. I think its a good idea now, not sure about taking an hr out of the schedule but maybe instead of an autograph session. Not much of a fan of Halloween costume contests, bean eating contests at a race track, but giving something related to racing to the kids, I'm for it. Under differant circumstances thats the kind of thing I could get involved in.
Again, nice gesture guys, I will always be a fan of Robert Deal, not ready to go that far with Boney yet but who knows? but I guess he's not QUITE as bad as I thought before!!!

My daughter was home from college, and she came to the track with me last night. It was pretty uneventful, so she said the autograph session was her favorite part. We both like hanging out with kids, and she helped me to pass out stuff to them, and get the kids in my car for pictures.

Signing cars is not really new, but it has to be a thrill for the young fans. Take a look at Michael Seay's LM, the entire back of it is covered with signatures. They are not visible from the stands, but up close you can see that a bunch of kids left their mark on it.

Some people get it and some don't. It's all about the fans having a good time. Good job Mr. Boneman you get it. Way to go tunaman, it speaks volumes about your character when you can recognize boney. You two ain't ready for a fishing trip yet, but I see progress LOL

EZ, I'm not trying to get along with "Jimmy", sorry. I asked him several times to just leave me alone, just like I did Boney a yr ago. Neither would do it until lately Boney has. Like I said, I could see good in Boney last night, sincerity I never saw before. I really wish him no harm any more, do I want a beer with him? No, but I did find SOME respect for him last night. Yes EZ, McKinkley is on my ignore list, I don't care what he says about me, good or bad, I will not see it so he can have all the fun he wants. When I cross the line with someone thats it, no turning back. I crossed the line with him. Thank you EZ for trying. Much as some people may not like me, they can't say they wonder what I feel. I actually hold hard feelings with very few here, we all are intitled to our opinion. Again, nice gesture Boney, I can't believe that girl was related to you, must take after your wife.

Of course she takes after Boney's wife, Lord help her if she had his hairline... We luv ya boney... ROFLMAO... I am very glad to see some progress in the friendlness department here... Wow a heart attack ensues... LOL...

As for the fans... I have noticed as of late that many more of the racers are starting to get involved with the fans especially during autograph sessions. This is a huge step forward and will hopefully bring many more fans back out to the tracks every weekend... I know I have pushed quite a few of the drivers that I have worked with the last couple of years to get more involved in the on track sessions...

Thanks to all for going that extra step...

Thats because that bumper has been around for about 20 years and was probably hanging on the wall at some race shop somewhere as a souvenir.

Hey Duane, don't get all shook up and have a heart attack or anything, I don't see Boney and I becoming best friends, but MAYBE we can learn to tolerate each other. A good first step he took by not calling me a liar anymore. Yes, I do and have always seen good in him, mostly when he's asleep!!!! lmao!!!
