thier called mini-stock down there. we begged him to get the cars under control and he didnt so every body left and went elsewhere. desoto is where we went and a few others. a few went to dirt. to far to drive knowing the tech is turning a blind eye and you will never finish better than 3rd because of it. and the owner said to just cheat better and stop whinning.lol nice!

      Wow

I am moving to port charlotte. In mid July I got a GREAT JOB OFFER in Punta Gorda. I have a nice Sportsman roller but I have it sold.. I have allot of seat time in a pro,4/outlaw mod .. I really want to run a mod mini .. I think it is BS that tracks have to doctor there rules so there drivers cant run elswhere..

try desoto thats where 4 of us are racing. not that far to drive. and they usally have 5 and somtimes more when a few of the northern guys visit.
if you have the chance run pgs! great track and people...

Its a shame what everyone has done to the mini's, Mod Minis whatever you want to call them. They've reached a point I don't know why anyone would run one, they're so expensive now. Just 4-5 yrs ago the minis put on a great show at NSS, now they're lucky to get 10 cars, usually less. You'll have 2-3 way out front, 1/2 a lap with one of them getting dq'd often as not, another 2-3 car race 1/2 a lap back and the final 2-3 on the verge of being lapped. It really is a shame. Probably the middle 2-3 or the only true minis in the field. At any rate there were 10-15 every week just a few yrs ago now they race maybe once, twice a month and no cars, is it the same everywhere?

thats why i bought my daughter a truck. we were stuck in the middle, stock chasis alum body and big motor. to much for mini's and not enough for mods. really i blame the track this, they allowed the alum bodies, and the wedge look, then decided they didnt like it. so that left you with build a new car or move to mod-minis... sucks!

It all started I think in the mid 90's when some tracks let the mini stock rules go and at Desoto anyway they let 2 or 3 guys with unlimited budgets make mini Late Models out of them. Todd Hutto did a good job with them for a while with his traveling series for them. I don't know what happened to the series I always enjoyed it and they always seemed to have a good following. It may be my memory but I don't even having a Mod Mini class in the 80's. The Out law Modified's were Mini stocks to begin with and the club decided to go to the Open wheel style. They put on a good show but they have had lower counts in recent years. Just last year they made a roof optional and I think it improved their times a lot and they look neat. Man I don't know what the answer is. If they changed the rules for on group then the others are up set. I remember in the 80's Desoto got the Mini Stocks together and they all hashed out their rules and established the Sun coast Mini stock Association and it worked then. The thing that impressed me was the track told them they didn't care about the rules other than safety. They basicly set their own rules and were consistent with the application of them. Maybe that could work agin. My 2 cents worth, well maybe 4. Bob.....

                    Mini,or,?

I have been in NW,FL for two years know. I spent allot of time at Citrus before I moved up here there modmini class was great.. Good car count and good show of course there was a few cars that always ran up front. but thats how it is at every track in every class. In my eyes those guys upfront are the ones to shoot for if I built one.. I think it WOULD BE GREAT IF THE MINI DRIVERS COULD COME TOGETHER LAY DOWN A SET OF RULES AND STICK TO THEM.. I am the kinda guy that would love to race Punta Gorda one weekend and then head north to Citrus the next weekend to play with those guys.. Without having to own two cars to do it.. ONE CAR ONE SET OF RULES.. MY PROBLEM IS I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO GET THIS BALL ROLLING.

Well know that I think about it what is the chance of getting different drivers from different tracks to agree on one set of rules.. lol

Sideways, It might behoove your purposes to contact the Outlaw Modified club. They are just as you described they race at several different tracks under the same rules. They used to have 2 or 3 guys that came from the keys to race with them. I don't think their cars are super expensive, but I don't really know that. They have a web site if you are interested. The problem is you have old school mini drivers like me and others thats been racing them for years and then you have the guys and girls with a few years under them racing these new rules so its cut down the middle as to how your going to make everyone happy with one set of rules. When they made the MSC Series a few tracks were running mini mods already so for these guys to join an not have to build new cars they formed the rules around those type of cars.Being that it was a traveling series and failed most tracks still merged there mini stock rules to match there rules that i dont understand because not everyone traveled with the series and wanted to race there own track every week.So thats my opinion on why some tracks have formed 2 classes of mini's or the tracks with 1 class of mod mini's have low car count because of the failed MSC Series rules and the expense to build a car by those rules.

Was it terribly expensive to Build a car under the MSC series rules? I knew a lot of guys that raced the series but not well enough to discuss finances. Back in the 80's There wasn't a lot of people that wanted to travel except Late Models.
Why did they dis-band? I always thought i was a good show each time they came to Desoto. Bob...

                              Mini

I really dont think a traveling series would make it. I did it with the Outlaws when I was living in the Keys.. I went broke real quick especially when Hialeah shut down.. But different tracks running the same rules would be great.. It seems like tracks will cater there rules so there drivers cant race elswhere.. It would be great if say Citrus had a 2k to win Modmini 50 lap feature and drivers from all over the state could come without having to rebuild there car to pass inspection.. JUST A THOUGHT.
