  • NASCAR should do this..

    Regarding the Texas twin races:

The Firestone Twin 275s will replace the single 550-kilometer (342 mile) event in Texas. Each race will pay half the points and half the bonus prizes. There will be an hour between races, when drivers will have a blind draw to determine their starting spot for the second race.

I would rather watch two smaller races each with a winner than one long one where the middle means nothing and everybody just rides.

What kind of cars are running this format? I agree with you, it sounds like a much more interesting day at the track.

I like it now I can take two naps when they run the newer 1 1/2 mile cookie cutter tracks. All single file with lapping beginning before lap 20 .Yahoo lets get some quality sleep.

egspeedway, ya got it wrong bud. The Indy cars have put on tremendous races with incredible finishes at Texas. There is never a guarantee, every track can put on a loser of a race, but I bet if you watched it, you would like it.

Thought you said NASCAR. I think Indy, IRL is the most sleep inducing racing I've ever seen. JMO

I did...I would like to see NASCAR try this. Indycars ARE doing it at Texas. Which apart from indy is one of the more exciting races they put on. I would take them at Texas over NASCAR at most places.

Boneman I totaly agree regarding the Indy cars and I don't consider Texas a cookie cutter track I was thinking more like Chcago etc. as it pertains to nascar.

egspeedway, I agree. So many of those NASCAR tracks are horrid and boring.

Closer to home, I always liked the "double feature" nights for local classes. Usually this was the result of a rain out the week before, so one or two classes ended up running twice in one night. I wish someone would try something different and schedule a night like this for a few classes.

All things being equal, I'd rather see twin 25's than one 50.

I remember reading about the "Monza" races held at Raceway Park in Chicago back in the '60s... Three 100 lap races on a quarter mile track on the same night... The winner of each race got a trophy and points but the payout was based on the combination of finishes from all three races... Wonder how many of those Bud Koehler won over the years?
