  • Going to a live NASCAR Race! The number one sporting event in the Country!

This report is from a NASCAR Fan, and someone that has been around racing's for over 40 plus years. Keep in mind this is the first race I have seen live since 1983 or 4. There must of been a KAZILLION plus FANS there. I couldn't believe the parking was so easy. It was 5:00 on race day and the race started at 6:00. It's not REAL SMART to be at the last minute to one of these events! We paid $30.00 for parking across the street from the Speedway. But found out later that the free parking was just around the corner and had a tram. Got to our seats by 5:45. I can tell you this they sell at heck of a lot of DRIVER STUFF. JR's is loved! His JR stuff was about quarter of the KAZILLION FANS. Driver support found was unreal. And the FREAKEN GIANT BIG SCREEN TV. It was 80 ft high and 200 plus ft wide. It was like sitting at home in your living room and was as clear as a HD TV (with a KAZOLLION friends with you). You got to bring in a cooler per person (14x14x14 inch cooler with beer wine or even booze). Heck even water was allowed. Oh yeah you could bring in food. But they had everything you would find at a State Fair. The seats we had were row 11 across from pits. Man it was unreal how much more you get live. The Pit Stops are so fast you don't look away for a second or they are done. Make sure you bring ear plugs or head set. These boys make some noise. The race it self was like being at the WORLD's BIGGEST Short Track Race. Those Drivers are unreal. All of them. So if ever hear someone say these guys can't drive, they just haven't been to one of these races live. Well I got to go to school now. I'll be adding some more later.

A kazillion fans?? Why then were the announcers on TV talking about it not being a sellout for the first time in years? You could see the empty seats on TV when they did show the stands, which were not too often I noticed.

Just courious, ok? when the local short track seats are less than 1/8 full its because of the economy, but if NASCAR isnt sold out its the poor show or the drivers dont know how to drive. I guarantee the local track would LOVE to have NASCARS problem!! After all, very few sporting events are sold out today. Was there a baseball game sold out all of last yr or this?
And baseball is the National Pastime.

I think you're both right. Guess the bad economy theory is out the window?? But on the other hand I kind was always amazed at the huge # of fans NASCAR used to generate. I still doubt they'll go broke in the near future.

Even I didnt dare say that, glad it didnt work out for NASCAR. And then all the cutions for debris that isnt even there and what about speeding penelaties, especially when only 2 people can see the speed readout!!

The Drivers. Part two of the Live NASCAR weekend.

All I can tell you is that the level of skill is amazing. From watching all the Racers at the local Short Tracks to the Super Speedways the level of ability is at it's best at a CUP Race. The car control is unreal. To watch these guys get side ways and save it is breath taking (Bobby Labonte spin showed to mastery of car controll). Going to a live race just made me realize that the level of competition is at it's highest in NASCAR. If you haven't been to one in a while it's truly worth every penny and the time spent will be remember as one of my most exciting weekends you'll of ever have watched or driven in. Also, I am in the middle of watching the DVR to see the differences from the live to the TV side.....That's it for now. I add more later.

It's good that you finally realized that! That should be pretty obvious, like MLB players are better than high schoolers.

Yeah they do have some talent..Not going to name any drivers or team members but i worked on a cup team fews years back an we could party pretty good an still do our jobs hungover an all.Man do i have some fun stories but its mostly all politics in the garage now then it is cold hard racing. An believe me just because every seat in the stands arent full doesnt mean there still isnt a sh$t load of people. So packed in the garage area it was just unreal with how little space we had for the truck, trailer,an car to make room for fan zones.Even on pit road fans zones were there packed in to watch us pit from behind an they paid good money for all those passes. So yeah when its said an done if your a big fan its fun to be there an yeah some tracks do have empty seats but there not hurting at all..

KAZILLION FANS!!! What does it mean.

KAZILLION FANS means that I really didn't have a clue of the exact count or even the seating. And you know how some people make a BID DEAL out of a wrong (even if it's close) count. All I can tell you CCMP seated about 3000 cheek to cheek, and maybe 1500 on the hill. The record was over 6500 on property on it's BIGGEST day. Any how the crowd was bigger than any I every seen. I have gone to Baseball, Hockey, and Football (NFL and College) nowhere compares to the KAILLION FANS that were on hand. It was so easy to get in and out I am still wondering how they did it. The people we meet were all there for one reason. TO HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!! We meet some of the NC State Football Players who sat behind us. A man with gray hair and his Son next to me. Both there for the first time. Man he had his camera smoking. He was so excited he could stay still for the whole time. The Family of FANS in front were all JR FANS. They had the shirts, hats, a towel and even their cooler was JR. The stuff looked rather wore (some was the old #8 BUD stuff). Every time JR would make a move up the leader poll they would stand up and CHEER!!!! The end I felt so bad for everyone JR and his loyal FANS. But, I like them all and when Kevin WON I forgot all about the "Boys have at it" era. In closing about the FANS. It was funny how everyone was taking pictures with the others camera to get the moment captured forever. We already have gotten a few emails back and forth from are new Friends that we meet at the NASCAR Track. Can't wait for Kansas. And I still working on the DVR taping. Fill you in the morning. Got to run now.

To compare live to the DVR.

Well after watching the Coke 600 on the BIG screen in my living room seating in my Lazy Boy and the remote. I have come to the conclusion that its just like any major sporting event I have ever gone to. It's two different views of the same thing. There's good and bad things about both. I think if I hit the Lottery I would buy a motor home and follow the NASCAR Tour for year and also drop in on as many Short Tracks and other races I could hit along the way. And than report back to you the fun of live Events. Or yeah my DVR and BIG TV screen would go with us on the road.
