I have tried to get in contact with a "owner/promoters" about racing at his track, but have not heard anything from them. Why not? I have sent him a private message, still nothing. I see that he is online so he has seen the pm. This is a hobby and my money is as thin as the next. When I reach out to a owner and get no responce, I pass his track, and go to the next track that seems to value my team, regardless of the payout. That being said why I have not got a invite from all the tracks in Florida? If I were a track owner I would have a e-mail/phone number data base to rival anyone. Just saying.

If I were a track promotor/owner, I would be calling anyone with a race car at least once a month. Sure, you would have to have some really thick skin and be willing to listen to alot of racers tell you how much of an idiot you are. Bottom line, most of these racers would pull to your track regardless.

Smok, it doesn't sound like you are trying very hard. Call the guy! Send an email or visit at the track. Just because you didn't get an answer to a pm (not everyone uses or understands them) you are going to throw him under the bus?

Load your car and GO to his track..................
When i raced if i wanted to go to a new track i took my car and was never turned away.
I know this is 2011 but the internet is NOT the ANSWER to EVERYTHING!
PS, just saw Boneman's post and he covered what i was trying to say very well.Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

called
Bone, I have called two times and have not got a answer.(plus the pm) Maybe he is on Vacation? Did not mean to throw him under the bus but quess I did. I will post when I do finally talk to him. Benny, you said "Load your car and GO to his track" I will do just that. I really dont need to talk to him to race at his track, but it would be nice. I still think owners could do alot more.

There is a certain track I called several times in the past. If I simply left a message asking them to call me, they never did. If I left a message I wanted to sponsor or help sponsor something, they called back right away. The reason they do not return calls is they don't want to hear suggestions, they take it as infringing in their little kingdom, they don't need suggestions because they already have all the answers, but if you were thinking about buying tickets for a "pack the stands" night, or maybe sponsor a race they jumped on it. Sorry Boney and EZ, EZ I hope you know I have no problem with you, I know you don't like it if I say something negative about a track, although you do constantly Boney, but I keep dreaming they'll start listening, after all there's nothing says they have to do what anyone suggests but like judge Joe Brown says on TV, "If you listen, you might learn something" Somebody said some track handed out comment sheets to drivers and fans, that is such a good idea.

Volusia Speedway handed out suggestion sheets to all of the racers and fans on Saturday night, asking opinions on several things that have been suggested to the management there over the past few weeks. Even some of the least thought out suggestions were included, as well as an opportunity for anyone to add their own suggestions. When I left the track office on Saturday night there was a huge stack of these forms already collected and more were coming in.
On the subject of the internet, it is my experience that many track owners/managers/promoters are becoming less tolerant of message boards and some racing related websites, not because they are closed minded to suggestions, but because they are fed up with racers and fans who lack the balls to go to the management and discuss issues face to face and instead just go off ranting on the internet for all to see. It is my experience that most managers/owners seem to be open to suggestions and comments, but they seriously frown on bashing and trash talking, especially when it is done anonymously in a public setting.

who lack the balls to go to the management
I guarantee you that track managers do not want to meet with dozens of customers every week. This is our only method to put ideas, problems or compliments out there. Track managers can pretend to be above all this if they want to, but business people that ignore the customers do so at their own peril.

From what ive seen on these forums there's not that many racers on here giving there thoughts on a subject but a of alot viewing. So its not going to make any differance what we say unless we get more racers to reply on any complaint thread. The more racers that join in and complain the more the buzz will get around on whatever forum at least thats my opinion...

Come on Cavin, they know who almost every one of us are. You say go to them in person, like I said, they wont even return a phone call unless they think there's a $100 bill on the other end. "Dont have balls to go talk to them in person"? If they wont even return a call do you really think they'll meet with you in person? "fed up with racers and fans"? Yup, and whos suffering? Look at car counts and the stands. If it were me I'd BEG the fan and driver to tell me whats wrong, be it in person, by PM, letter or whatever. This crap about "Its a priveledge for the fan and racer to be able to come here is a bunch of crap" !!Originally posted by BJ Cavin View PostVolusia Speedway handed out suggestion sheets to all of the racers and fans on Saturday night, asking opinions on several things that have been suggested to the management there over the past few weeks. Its my opinion Tiresmoke is a nice guy. He's invited me several times to come see him and his son race, even after I promised him I will NEVER sponsor another race car. I believe he's not expecting too much by asking for a call back. Maybe he wants to know whats expected of him before he "Hauls his car out there", I know I would., get real!! . I have potential customers call me to inquire about my service, maybe I should say, "Just have me come to your home and perform the service, I don't have time to discuss it with you" Yeah right!!
