  • Southern Sportsman and Florida Mini Stock Challenge Open 2008 Season this Saturday

Samsula, FL (Feb. 25, 2008) The Florida Mini Stock Challenge and Southern Sportsman will open their 2008 racing season this Saturday, March 1st, at Desoto Super Speedway in Bradenton, Florida.

"We are very excited about our opening race," said Series Director Scott Jackman. "We look forward to seeing a great field of both Mini Stocks and Southern Sportsman at Desoto and a very exciting year for both series ahead of us in 2008."

"This will be the first points race for both series and we have had alot of good feedback from both Mini Stock and Southern Sportsman drivers. Alot of our 2007 drivers will be back and also some new faces for 2008", added Jackman. "We have had the rules and schedules up for awhile on the web-site and that has helped the drivers plan their schedules and prepare their cars for a great 2008 season."

Also on the progam at Desoto Super Speedway this coming Saturday will be the Limited Late Model 100, Pure Stocks, Bombers, and Cars of Yesterday.

Pit gate will open at 2 p.m. with racing action at 7:00 p.m.

Good Luck. Hope you can change the things that need changing to turn the numbers around in both Series.

I have said this once, and will say it again at the risk of being flamed.

Until FASCAR pulls its head out of the sand and cuts back on the rules for the mini stocks, you can expect to see numbers dwindle. No one in their right mind will spend what it takes to build a ground up competitive ministock these days. Heck Im about ready to sell out and go dirt crate latemodel racing as the costs are lower.
