Can someone post details? Is a fail based on the pit road incident or did more happen?

They had a great field - 28 cars - took 18 from time trials (boring) with Russell setting fast time (I think - you can barely hear the announcers now when they do talk)... ran two B mains for 10 cars, a big waste of time, and started 24 cars... Race was OK but not much passing with Russell leading Sergi until the big fiasco in turn three that has already been discussed at length on here...
Jesse Dutilly took over from that point and took the win over Jeff Scofield... The driver of the race, by far, was old man Joe Winchell... He spun on his own early in the race then drove back to third place passing cars on the outside with ease... Would have finished second as he was passing Scofield on the outside when a late caution came out... Also a good job by Steve Dorer to take what was left of his car and still managed to finish... Nice run by Sean Bass to take fifth in Wally Warwick's car...
Rest of the night was so-so... not very many cars except for the Legends who brought 23... Best race of the night was the second Legends heat where Kory Abbott started dead last and won... Of course, that put him on the front row of the feature and he ran away with it but the racing behind him was pretty good... Somebody needs to put this talented young man in a LM or Modified ASAP!!
I was cringing all night at the announcing... can you believe 10 minutes of dead air during the red flag period... no music, no nothing... plenty of drivers just standing around you could interview... oh well...
Still had fun visiting with my friends... saw some folks I hadn't seen in awhile which was really nice...

Dave, the quiet time is what they did need, not somebody just running their mouth or loud music, and you sure don't need people (driver interviews)voicing their opinions over the mic to everybody in the stand. This is the time that people needed to be praying that nobody was hurt. I know you don't feel this way, because you are no longer an announcer at the track.

Not picking on you Carol, although you are Dave. But can you imagine 10 mins of silence during a NASCAR race on T.V.? I can pray wether its noisy or quiet.

I know I'll get a bashed for this but heck, I bash too so it doesnt matter at all to me, have at it!! Its obvious the official made a bad mistake, I guess, I wasn't there. Just one question, did he have radio contact with the people in the control tower like at other tracks? If so is it possible someome there made the mistake? Did he let cars out thru the wrong gate (If thats the case) on his own decision or was it someone in the tower told him too? Why didn't someone in the tower straighten him out before it happened? I know even the flag man keeps looking to the control tower for guidance at some tracks. I personally think thats ridiculous. ( sorry Professor, don't know or care how thats spelled)
Anyhow the fact remains he made a mistake, the track owner should the one responsible, I'm responsible for anyone working for me. Also how long do we beat on the guy that made the mistake? Can you imagine how he feels? Whats next, lynch him, nail him to a cross, throw him out on the track and run over him, maybe everyone whos car was wrecked get a chance to run over him? I mean if I was one of the cars that got wrecked I would of been upset. But how many wrecked that have raced any amount of time have made a mistake and caused a wreck? Its a shame but it happens, my question is "How long do you kill him"? When does everyone say, "there, we killed him, enough"?

I would love 10 minutes of silence on nascar racing. Most of the time it is useless infro. and they are talking to hear themselves.

After watching Sunday's race on ABC, it would have been better without announcers (other than Dale Jarrett - he's OK)... Oh to have Bob Jenkins and Dave DeSpain back in NASCAR and really miss Benny Parsons & Larry Nuber (RIP)...

Should the flagman be fired? YES. Should the track owner assume some responsibility for track workers, In my opinion, YES.
All we can say after the fact is it should have not happened, it was a bad error, but no drivers were hurt and lets just hope that the track owner will assist the wrecked teams to "make it right".
Well said, you have the right attitude. I also believe he made a big mistake, but I bet he's not the only one!
