  • My Take on Modifieds/Tracks/Fans

I have ranted on here about purses.
    (They Suck get over it)
I have ranted about John S, Bobby D, and REX
(They have their issue's just like I do)
I ranted about simple solutions to help racing on here.

I decided 3 years ago to sponsor Aaron Williamson in a sportsman after he got kicked in the teeth from REX (whom he was trying to help support) by buying tires for him the next time he came to CCMP.
So after lengthly debate I decided to either do something or shut-up, so I decided to purchase a modified and go racing.
So with Aaron Williamson, an old Bobby Judkins race car and a tired motor we went racing.
My idea was to HAVE FUN take one race at a time and race when i'm home from Afghanistan. At the same time Aaron was running his sportsman.
I run at tracks that are fun and give my race team a fair shake.
I don't care about the purse, they suck and i'm never going to recoup 10% of what I spend but it can offset what I pay into my car.

So, lets all look at PGS, (Really) Never raced there but will next saturday.
They lowered the prices, and treat people fair. The place looks great and I have to say I will opt to travel to a place that looks good, puts on a show and gives back to the racer.
PGS, has it going on right now and other track owners need to take notice. I have no issue's racing Citrus (they have been good to me also) this weekend buying a set of tires and then buying 6 goodyears the following weekend just to run PGS, Why? Because it is fun, the facility is clean and the show runs right along.
My decision to race at a certain track is based on where Aaron can run his sportsman and/or if he has an off weekend. The second thing I consider is how many cars the track is drawing. I don't care to run a 5 car feature to run 2nd or 3rd or even Win.
But I would rather run against 12-20 cars and enjoy a good race.
Bottom line, I enjoy racing both as a spectator and car owner.
I'm fortunate that my company is doing good and I have to opportunity to give back.
We are learning the car and the tracks.
I would like to thank Craig and Steve at Racecar Eng. Wayne Morris helping with the big curve of learning the tracks and setups.
A special Thanks to Tony C. for what he is doing with the Modifieds and the Sprints keep up the positive work Tony C.

So when people complain about simple things in life, I'm humbled by how narrow their point of view is. They are missing out on such great things and are full of hate, GET OVER IT! I HAVE and will continue to support racing anyway I can either as a spectator or a car owner.
Enjoy racing and enjoy the simple moments in life because they can be snatch away in a moment.....

    Goodnight from Afghanistan....

    Amen Brother!

Don't sweat the small stuff. My family is healthy, nobody going to jail, bills are paid. After that, how bad can it be? I tend to avoid anything that gives me that much grief. Kind of hard to complain about anything when some people have family and friends in Afghanistan and other dangerous places around the world. Others dealing with floods, losing their homes, tornados, etc. Kind of silly complaining about something that 95% of racers do for fun. Be safe while you're there, and come home soon.

      Just a heads up

If you know what tire sizes you want to run............call p.g.s. ahead of time. I have had a small problem with them not having what i need this year. They are very helpful but if they dont have them they cannot help. The local guys have been getting what they need ahead of time.........Thank you for what you do for our country............D Miller

Eagletai- your take on modifieds, tracks, and fans pretty much says it all! We all bitch and moan till the cows come home but the bottom line racing is a hobby, unfortunately an expensive one at that! Thank you for defending our country and too all military personel past and present. By the way when you get home and i hope thats soon, you look me up at the track and i'd love to buy you a cold beer!
