This Saturday night is the “Buddy’s Home Furnishing’s Night of Destruction!”
Representatives from Buddy’s will be on hand with give a ways for the fans as well as a chance to win a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle. Please stop by their Inverness and Brooksville locations for details and to register for a chance to win free tickets to this weekends destruction.
This Saturday night is the first school bus figure 8 race of 2011. With over 25 confirmed entries for the bus races, this is sure to be one of the most entertaining races of the night. Travis Nichols has been practically unbeatable in the recent bus races. The last time out was one of the most exciting bus races of recent memory. Nichols lead the majority of the race until some intersection mayhem saw the veteran Robert Aaaron make a winning pass with less than 2 laps to go to take a long awaited school bus figure 8 victory. Little did we know it would be the last time we would see Robert in a bus, but it’s a lasting memory for myself and our fans.
The second bus race was won by one of Citrus County Speedways own, Joey Henley raced his way to victory for his first every school bus figure 8 win. Joey can be found each Saturday night working the infield at the speedway, normally driving the red wrecker. Joey is a hard worker and a great guy, it was a very popular win among the track employees and fans.
Also on the card is the first of a few 35 lap Pro Figure 8 races this year. James Crawford has been the man to beat this year, but Joey Catarelli took the victory in the last regular Pro Figure 8 race 3weeks ago. The extra distance should make the race for the win very competitive.
The SS/PS figure 8’s will also be in action for a figure 8 double header. Last race out they had a field 16 strong, which ended under the red flag after a huge intersection collision. Eric Sharrone took the victory in the time shortened race followed by Ronnie Schrefiels. This is some of the most entertaining figure 8 action of the night, the field gets strung out fairly quick, which make for some exciting intersection action.
Doug Rose and the Green Mamba Jet car will be making his first visit of 2011 and will light up the night sky with fire! Doug will do his full show this trip which will end the night with a car melted to the ground with the jet engine and afterburner.
Perhaps the most entertaining race of the night will the “Battle of the Brothers” suitcase race. This race will feature several pairs of brothers making laps around the speedway and stopping each time to put on an article of women’s clothing. The first driver to cross the finish line with all 5 pieces of women’s clothing on, will be the winner. After the race is over, the crowd will decide which brother, makes the best “sister”. Fans will pick out the best (or worst) looking brother by show of applause, and she…..or he will be awarded a sash and crown.
Also we will have the Street Stock and Pure Stock classes in regular weekly racing action. Both classes have had strong car counts and great racing this year.
So come on out for a great night of friends, family and fun at Citrus County Speedway. Make sure to listen to Citrus 95.3 and 102.3 WTRS for chances to win free tickets to this weekends show. The first heat of racing will take the green at 6 pm, be sure to get there early to get a front row seat for all the destruction!
