CHRIS GIMMLER WINS FIRST FEATURE OF CAREER
The Florida Midget Auto Racing Association (FMARA) ran its third race of the season Saturday night March 16th with teenager Chris Gimmler of Palm Beach Gardens capturing his first career feature victory. Gimmler took the lead with five laps remaining when Mike Belusar of Punta Gorda, trying to win his third straight feature victory retired with rear end problems while leading the race. Gimmler was followed to the finish line by Geoff Styner of Cape Coral in second and Jack Duffy of Sarasota in third. Jay Stutz of Riverview finished fourth and John Ciolino of Cape Coral was fifth. Earlier gremlins caused Jamie Barnum of Brooksville and Steven Maier of Port St. Lucie to retire. Belusar won the six lap heat race. In victory lane while doing his interview for second place, Geoff Styner surprised the crowd by pulling an engagement ring out of his fire suit and asking his longtime girlfriend, Linda Montgomery, our club secretary, for her hand in marriage. Congratulations to both of them. Join us for our next race on Saturday night March 30th at Punta Gorda Speedway.
