I thought some of you might be interested in seeing these photos that are currently for sale on Ebay HERE & HERE.
According to the seller these were shot in 1971 at Golden Gate during the filming of the Movie “JUMP”.
I knew Golden Gate was used as a backdrop for several ‘B’ movies connected to racing back in the day but I’d never heard of this particular one myself.
The first one was of very little interest to me because it was just the leading character, Chester Jump, played by actor Tom Ligon sitting in what was likely a local racer’s Late Model in front of the grandstands.

However this second photo “Sunlit Stockcar Racers at the Golden Gate Speedway” did intrigue me somewhat more.
I assume these were likely fillers in the movie.
Andy Anderson’s #97 Chevelle shown on the outside was driven primarily by Benny Moore in 1971.
Then of course the #02 on the right would be my old friend Jim Gray.
However I’m not sure about the #8 car on the left. Since the car is 10 – 12 years older than the other two in the photo I assume it’s either a Tornado car or an Early Model again, likely used as a filler for the shot.
Dave Scarborough drove the #8 Tornado car back in 1971 and that sort of looks like Dave but then again I’m not sure.
Maybe someone who was involved back then with either the making of this movie at GG or with one of the cars in the movie could shed more light on the details.

I thought it was also interesting to see that two people from the Gate were listed in the cast & crew of the movie.
Johnny Hicks as Starter & Gordon Solie as Technical Adviser.
Sorta strange seeing something like this coming from the Netherlands but such is life with the World Wide Web.
