Ford Motor Company and AAA host an annual students skills competition for aspiring automotive technitians, out of 600 applicants statewide, Lucas an his team mate scored high enough to be one of the 10 teams to compete in Orlando this Friday.
The 10 teams were given identical Ford Mustangs with 10 identical problems to find and fix, a time limit of 1 1/2 hours was given.
Well Lucas took 3rd place and came home with bragging rights lots of tools, a 1 year membership in AAA, and $21,000 in scholarship money!
One more note, out of the entire state, Sarasota Co Tech Institute had 3 teams entered in the competition, 33% from 1 school, thats impressive.
Lucas is 17 yo
(can you tell I am proud?)
